I hate wakes, was always forced to go as a child... always got left at the casket and I would space out for however long until my parents found me. Again.

I will not have one, and will not go to another...unless Bryan needs me to.

Yes, I got to go to pay my respects, and say my goodbyes.

But I also understand those that don't. It may be too upsetting for them, plus they like to remember that person how they were.

I have never been to a wake. I avoid funerals unless it is a relative or close friend. For several years every time there was a family funeral I was called on to Pallbear. I will usually go to visitation since most funerals are during the normal workday and basically shut me down for the day.

I don't think that anybody really LIKES going to a wake or a funeral, myself included, but I always remind myself that these get togethers are not for the one who passed away but for those left behind. That being said I only go to wakes or funerals of people I know very well......or for those I know who have lost somebody close to them.

I too seem to know more people dying because of my age.

I only go to funerals of people that I don't like. I wanna make sure they ain't breathing no more.

Actually I only go to them if the person is close to me but as Fred said that's becoming more common as I get older.

I go to show respect, and support for the families, and just take myself out of my own business and get some perspective about life. It's tough, and sitting through religious ceremonies can often be irritating for me, but it's not about me. I can't imagine someone not going to the funeral of a close loved one because it was too emotional...idk I always feel like they might regret it.
