your link stated tariifs kd. according to your link Mexico would not suffer the sugar prices and have a chance to be profitable. ... I expect 2004 was due to union wage and benifits ....this last one is a combo off the two.

Thanks for the link by the way....another accomplishment for Obama 18000 plus more jobs lost and possibly going to mexico due to our current sugar regulations.

Thats not sticking it to the top one percent they will eat anyway.
It sticks it to the poor that have growing children.
Groceries are very high here kd...I mean very high.
After many buy groceries and pay the basic bills there is nothing left to buy other stuff with...buying stuff is what creates jobs.

Wait maybe he is sticking it to that top one percent after all..if people dont have money for stuff ....they cant make someone else rich buying their stuff....I am understanding democratic methodology....it can work

In honour of "The Twinkie Defense", I shall refer to every brain dead Republican who fatuously attempts to make a half-assed link between a business failure and the incumbent government as a "twinkie".

TM, you're a twinkie.:D

Been a union man all my life but this bit of " unionism " was a total fail for the members. Sticking to your guns is one thing in contract discussions but when there is no more to be gained smart union leadership must say ok this is the best deal going.
This leadership failed their members badly but refusing to budge to the point everyone is now going to be unemployed.
That's a real good job of collective bargaining done there.
A wise union person once told me " a little bit of something is better then a whole lot of nothing ". Well that's what these union members now have......nothing.
Nobody wants cutbacks but they do want a steady paycheck coming in on a regular basis. Well done my union brothers, you really screwed the very people you were to protect. Take a bow.

According to the wonderful internet [but what would the internet know, it's not American, lol] the directors of Hostess are seeking permission to wind up the company and pay bonuses totaling 1.75million to a few selected directors.

bonuses? Someone needs a new dictionary.

Bonuses are for winners, not wankers.

Damn good post truth seeker

When TM agrees with you and calls your post "damned good" you know right off the bat it lacks any fact.

Truthseeker - have you actually read the historical back ground of the hostess issue, or are you simply repeating the right wing anti-union propaganda? I'd suggest the latter based upon your posts in this thread.

One less piece of crap food on the market.

Can't argue that Twinkies are not chemical garbage and outright poision to the normal human digestive system- but there was economic demand. The unions had conceded down to damned near minimum wage conditions, yet management refused to accept those concessions and wanted even more. Then, management gave themselves huge pay raises and bonuses in the midst of the conflict.

So - who wins here?
