Can't argue that Twinkies are not chemical garbage and outright poision to the normal human digestive system- but there was economic demand. The unions had conceded down to damned near minimum wage conditions, yet management refused to accept those concessions and wanted even more. Then, management gave themselves huge pay raises and bonuses in the midst of the conflict.

So - who wins here?

You do know Twinkies are being made by the truck loads right ?

Just not in the good old USA...

Why do you think I called Bull on this..

Americans started to panic after Hostess Brands, makers of Twinkies and Ding Dongs, moved to liquidate their assets last Friday. Although it’s not clear what will happen to the now-endangered American species, the Canadian breed is doing just fine.

Reuters reports that Saputo Inc., Canada’s largest dairy processor, “has the trademark and brand rights to Hostess CupCakes and Hostess Twinkies.” Sandy Vassiadis, a spokeswoman for Saputo, said, “It’s totally separate.” She added, “We own the rights in Canada so what’s happening in the U.S. doesn’t affect us.”

Did not know that, lol. Still won't eat them, but glad to see Canada supports her workers. How is your Caterpillar plant doing up there? I understand our Cat plants pay half of what yours does and the corporates are threatening to move work from Canada to the US. Ain't THAT some shit? Congratulations on your government and your unions actually looking out for your workers instead of throwing them under the corporate bus like we do our workers.

Yes I knew about Saputo / Hostess. I personally do not eat them as I can't have any foods with possible nut content in them in my house due to my sons extreme nut allergies. Only means we don't eat as much crap.. :D

Cat was not doing well last I heard but I don't follow them at all.. Here is what I just found on them..

Thats a fucking lie
yet management refused to accept those concessions and wanted even more.
Use your brain other than for basic life sustaining function.
They were already in debt.

Then, management gave themselves huge pay raises and bonuses in the midst of the conflict.
Another lie...the raises equated to shit in the overall picture...just like you giving your kid a fucking nickle at payday.

So - who wins here?
read the fucking thread title...the unions won.
The took till there was no more to take...then went on strike .

Its their company they should be able to move where the fuck they want....Jesus christ.
Also you may want to research before you speak Cat can and will close down a plant when the unions get to be to much of a problem,
Instead of the union forcing a close..Cat will just lock the doors and say bye bye fuckers.
Fuck me fuck you.
Use your head...if minimum wage was 100 dollars an hour as you would like it to be... a fucking pepsi would be 9 dollars.
Skilled workers would require more than minimum wage in addition.
IF ALL PALCES had a union,,there would be absolutely no benefit of union wages whatsoever..as that would now be the "current minimum"
Are you sure you are an instructor in refrigeration?

I do not see how you can be a professor in refrigeration and not understand basic economics...it does not add up John.
The refrigeration cycle and the economy work the same way.
may I ask where you teach at John
