U twits who have an issue with my unemployment...

I spent a good half of 2004 out of work... it drove me absolutely insane. I spent almost all day every day looking for jobs when I didn't have one, and the rest of the time I went stir crazy. My ex and I only had one car at the time, and we didn't have a lot of extra money for gas for me to be just driving around, so I sat at home and went crazy. I seriously can't fathom just sitting around all day long every single day in front of the computer doing nothing. I get stir crazy at work as it is when it's slow.

i got shot in 1987 and haven't had a real job since. granted, the disability benefits take away all the stress of needing to have money to cover the overhead available on the first, but that's about as far as it goes. you want to eat well, have nice things and any fun at all, you have to work.

oh, i'll bet i spend almost as much time as dana online and in clubs, but i'm not just bullshitting with people. i'm out hustling my crafts and junquetiques i trade in and am never shy about taking on short term jobs of all sorts.

i'd have gone nuts years ago if i had just closed in and said okay, i'll never work again and you can give me everything i have for the rest of my life.

You're unable to type with both hands? Is that part of your disability as well? Because all you mentioned was the fact that you can't stand for long periods of time. If it's an issue of typing speed... I have users at my job that peck and hunt their way through every e-mail or document they type up, and yet they have jobs. If you can operate a mouse and type faster than about 5 words a minute, you could find a job where you sit at a computer.

Just saying...
It stems from the birth defect I have. I don't have the greatest dexterity in my left hand due to my Hydrocephalus. My whole left side is weaker than my right. I cannot position my fingers correctly on the right keys.

You could be a people greater at Walmart. If you have to sit down they would let you. Hell there are few people at my local wamart that are people greeters that are in wheel chairs. One dude is even missing both his legs. Im 100% positive they cant stand at all and that didnt stop them from working

the plot thickens. testes1...2...3... dana, do you only respond to the people who are pissing you off or are you ignoring me for some other reason?

is there a myelo-meninge-coele or any spina bifida associated with your hydrocephaly?

if so, you're lucky you can walk at all. if you just have a little extra space for water in your head, i'm going to stick with insisting as kindly as possible, that there are a whole lot of things you can be doing that are more fulfilling and gratifying than hanging out on the web and in night clubs.

like i said before, i'm new and you've been struggling successfully with yourself for some time before i got here. keep on and remember illigitamatus non carborundum

You don't have to have proper form in order to be able to type effectively. Like I said, I have people here at work that couldn't type their way out of a proverbial paper bag, and yet they work here... on computers all day long, doing data entry.

You seem like an intelligent enough person to figure out a way to get around the things that you can't do and find a type of job that you would be able to do. Have you actually even applied for any jobs? Or did you just admit defeat before you even bothered looking? Yeah, the economy blows right now, but there are still jobs out there.

Like Tim said, all you talk about is what you can't do... why don't you focus on what you can do and go from there.

I think the real problem at hand is people can't mind their own business and are too worried about what I'm doing with my time. when they need to worry about themselves and stop judging someone they know from a hole in the wall. Get to know me, the real me then you can pass judgment on me.

Okay Dana... as part of trying to get to know you. Why don't you have a job? Are you looking for a job? If you aren't, why is that? Where do you get your money to go out to clubs all the time? Social Security? Disability? You've already said that you don't have a job, so it isn't that. See, if you're claiming disability, collecting unemployment, or collecting disability... your apparent lack of desire to get a job does concern other United States citizens on this forum. If you're physical capable of going out to a club, you should be physically capable to go out and get a job.

I know someone far more handicapped than you are, I won't go into the details, because it isn't my place, but this person is going to school, and wants to work and support themselves. he has a desire to be a productive member of society, regardless of his impairments. You on the other hand, from what you've presented yourself as, don't seem to have that same desire. You seem like you're perfectly content to sit around all day long, and then go to clubs or whatever else at night.

You see... most people don't want to even bother trying to get to know you because of the way that you act around here. You talk shit to people that you don't know, and pass judgement on them, but you can't handle people doing that to you. You're a very easily offended person that can't seem to comprehend the concept of treating other people how you want other people to treat you. From the things that you've posted here and the stories you've told about the things that go on in your life, you seem to be a very rude and obnoxious person. As near as I can tell, the "real you" is the same person that you portray yourself as here... someone who says and does whatever he feels like, regardless of the consequences. But you expect other people to treat you with the respect that you seem to refuse to show others. I've seen you talk so much shit around here over the years, but you have a tantrum when it happens to you.

So what is the real you? Because all we know about you is what you post on Offtopicz and from that all we can work out is that you are a rude, negative person who sits on his computer all day moaning about the most trivial of things and never seems to do or say anything positive. If you're going to portray this image, which you claim is false, dont start bitching when people treat you like it.

You can be up and running for the cost of a cab ride.

This was just the first of many ideas that you would be more than capable of doing.

dana, you post looking for people to give you advice or you whine about something begging for somebody to rub your nose in it.

most everybody is being real straightforward and constructive. you've lived this long with what sounds like only some minor impairments. at the risk of sounding redundant, there must be something you like to do that's within your physical capabilities that will bring you income. it doesn't have to be a conventional job. there are all kinds of things you can do to make money while you're online.

like everybody is saying, quit with the i can't and i won't already and tell us what you can and will do besides the club scene that started this latest group therapy session.

2.95 a domain? Where?

So Dana when you were doing all that clubbing I thought you were dancing.

How does that square with your being unable to work because you can not be on your feet?

Besides there are tons of desk jobs.

Inquiring minds want to know

Oh and I am very aware of what your so called handicap is. My brother inlaw just got diagnosed in his 60's with Normal Pressure Encephalitis.

*sigh*

Standing on your feet 8 hours a 8 day behind a counter cooking is A LOT different than going to a club and dancing one or two songs in a row. You're obviously not going to like every song and there is also seating.

i'm not sure if they're that cheap, but all my friends recommend godaddy.com

i just went back and read a bunch of the comments. i see a lot of wage slaves trying to tell you that you need to become one too, even if you have to take a job that you hate just to have a job. that's some seriously deluded bullshit.

self employment is the ticket. do something you like to do and make money with it.

the disability benefits go a long way toward financing a little micro business for yourself and you won't have the same kind of tax problems and benefit reductions as with a straight job.
