No he is a misguided socialist because he doesn't know any better. Tattoos and piercings would be irrelevant to that fact.

let me guess carthage...your parents go to church frequently? And maybe you do too? You are only 14...your opinions that you have now most likely WILL change. There will come a time when you seek to explore the reason being right and wrong for yourself...you will be surprised in some of the things you find that you like...because they will be some of the very same things that you were raised NOT to like.

No. My ideas on religion are very radical, and my parent's just never seem to have the drive for church.
And Any Rand didn't change - hopefully I won't either.
And I wans't raised pro- or con- of very much. My parents are incredibly apathetic. I kind of felt it all out for myself. You know, I was once a socialist. It was the good word of Ronald Reagan that changed that, though.

Exactly. I was rather admiring the way he was handling himself under the pressure. Quite enlightening and augers well for him. Much to be proud of.

Matter of fact...deserves a well earned round of applause. Bravo Carthage.

Thank you, thank you.

If there's one thing I'm proud of more then my ideas and how I forumalted them, It's my integrity.

No, it was the speech. THE speech. The greatest speech in the history of humanity - the Time for Choosing.
But that just won me over to Capitalism. It was Ayn Rand who convinced me that Lazzai-faire is possible. As long as we take a slow, realistic road, we can achieve what has never been done before - a real, possible, and free Capitalist society.

That was absolutely ridiculous.. These TSA guards have been given way to much power. Way more power than they need to secure flights.

All they needed to do was have the female guard take her into a private room and examine her breasts. Problem solved. Pitty these stupid robots are too dim-witted to realize this.

How would I know what? That piercings are wrong?
You're poking holes in your sking to place metal rings that display, in our culture, a contempt for society or a bad-boy/girl look, a look that I don't like. It's just like tatoos - your inking images into your skin, as well as the above mentioned bad boy/girl look and what it espresses.
I am fine if anyone has them, I wouldn't judge them via that, but I personally think they're wrong.
Or its artistic expression. Damn it you're such an old man at an early age.

No. I disagree with the concept behind it and what it symbolizes, not the person doing it. It's sort of like Communism is pure evil, but communists can be good people that I imagine I could make very good friends with. One of my best friends is a radical environmentalists.
"Evil" is such an overused term it loses all meaning when tossed around like this. Political systems can't be "evil". Its the people that run them that make them corrupt.

Carthage is too smart to be corrupted by a misguided socialist. :D

You're too ill-informed in the area of socialism to even comment, sweetie pie. <3

Radical views on religion are never good. Radical anything isn't good. Stop being so serious. You're 14. You WILL CHANGE.

Ronald Reagan was one of the most corrupt presidents ever. Oh and he supported mass murder. But, somehow you'll find a way to work around that fact and still masturbate to his pictures.

I hardly doubt you were a real socialist of the words of a washed up actor/corrupt businessman swayed you into capitalism.

Free market is impossible. Every person who understands the very basics of economics knows this.

Ayn rand promotes selfishness and greed as good things. She's an unguided whore.

Ear piercings are small, and usually signify a sense of elegance in today's society. They're not quite as rebelious as a lip pierce or nipple pierce. I might never get one, but they aren't as bad as a tounge pierce or eyelid pierce.

Eyelid piercing??? Wow, that would really hurt!!! LOL

I never said you were freaks, I just said that I disagree with what I view it stands for.
What do you view that it stands for??? I'm just curious...if you're not comfortable answering, that's fine. Piercings may be "wrong" for you...but they are not wrong.

Pics or it didn't happen
Trust me...you don't want pics of the girl in the story. :yuk

Piercings and tattoos have come a long way in the past 20 years...it's time you follow them, sweetie. Body art (that includes piercing and tattoos) is no longer looked upon as a "bad boy" or "bad girl" look. They are widely accepted and people from all different walks of life display them (especially tattoos). I have to keep mine pretty low key due to the job, but I have 3 tattoos and 3 piercings (other than ears, that is). I like the way they look and I enjoy getting pierced/tattooed...it has nothing to do w/ me wanting the "bad girl look." This is how much of a bad girl I am. I have a BA degree in Legal Assistant Studies w/ a minor in criminal justice. I am a Nationally Registered EMT who graduated EMT school w/ a 4.0 GPA. I am also a certified First Responder. I am an assistant supervisor (Corporal) at my place of work (which, by the way, is the Sheriff's Department) where I serve on the Quality Assurance Committee and act as a dispatcher for the SWAT team. I have volunteered for many charities including, but not limited to, the NAMES Project (AIDS quilt), Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels, various soup kitchens, American Red Cross, and I'll also be joining a few others from the forum for a Walk for Autism in April. Now, pardon me if I come off as full of myself, but if people want to judge me b/c of my tattoos and piercings then it is THEIR LOSS!!!

TSA Forces Woman To Remove Nipple Rings For Flight

LOS ANGELES (CBS 5 / AP) ― A Texas woman who claims she was forced to remove a nipple ring with pliers in order to board an airplane called Thursday for an apology by federal security agents and a civil rights investigation.

"I wouldn't wish this experience upon anyone," Mandi Hamlin, 37, said at a news conference in Los Angeles. "My experience with TSA was a nightmare I had to endure. No one deserves to be treated this way."

Hamlin said she was trying to board a flight from Lubbock to Dallas on Feb. 24 when she was scanned by a Transportation Security Administration agent after passing through a larger metal detector without problems.

The female TSA agent used a handheld detector that beeped when it passed in front of Hamlin's chest, the Dallas-area resident said.

Hamlin said she told the woman that she was wearing nipple piercings. The female agent then called over her male colleagues, one of whom said she would have to remove the body piercings, Hamlin claimed.

Hamlin said she could not remove them and asked if she could instead display her pierced breasts in private to the female agent. But several other male officers told her she could not board her flight until the jewelry was removed, she said.

She was taken behind a curtain and managed to remove one bar-shaped nipple piercing but had trouble with the second, a ring.

"Still crying, she informed the TSA officer that she could not remove it without the help of pliers, and the officer gave a pair to her," said Hamlin's attorney, Gloria Allred, reading from a letter she sent Thursday to the director of the TSA's Office of Civil Rights and Liberties. Allred is a well-known Los Angeles lawyer who often represents high-profile claims.

Hamlin showed reporters at the news conference how she took off the second ring by applying pliers to the torso of a mannequin that had a peach-colored bra with the rings on it.

She said she heard male TSA agents snickering as she took out the ring. She was scanned again and was allowed to board even though she still was wearing a belly button ring.

"After nipple rings are inserted, the skin can often heal around the piercing, and the rings can be extremely difficult and painful to remove," Allred said.

TSA officials said they were investigating Hamlin's allegations to see if its policies were followed.

"Our security officers are well-trained to screen individuals with body piercings in sensitive areas with dignity and respect while ensuring a high level of security," the agency said in a statement.

On its Web site, the TSA warns that passengers "may be additionally screened because of hidden items such as body piercings, which alarmed the metal detector."

"If you are selected for additional screening, you may ask to remove your body piercing in private as an alternative to a pat-down search," the site reads.

Hamlin would have accepted a "pat-down" had it been offered, Allred said.

If an alarm does sound, "until that is resolved, we're not going to let them go through the checkpoint, no matter what they're wearing or where they're wearing it," said TSA spokesman Dwayne Baird in Salt Lake City.

People routinely pass through security wearing wedding rings without problems and it might take a larger bit of metal to trigger an alarm, Baird said.

"I'd be really curious to know what this woman had in her nipples," he said. "Sometimes they have a chain between their nipples, or a chain between their nipples and their belly button. It would have to be made of heavy metal to be detected."

Transportation Security employees are required to check anything that raises concerns at checkpoints, Baird said.

"No matter what it is, if it's something that unduly alarms people or sets off the sensors they must check it," Baird said. "But I've never heard of any of our people having anyone remove something that sounds as small as a nipple ring."

Allred said celebrity Nicole Richie had her breasts inspected by security at an airport because of her nipple rings several years ago. Baird said he was not aware of the Richie incident either.

Hamlin filed a complaint but the TSA's customer service manager at the Lubbock airport concluded the screening was handled properly, Allred said.

Hamlin wants an apology from the TSA and an investigation by the agency's civil rights office.

Allred said she might consider legal action if the TSA does not apologize.
Hamlin was publicly humiliated and has "undergone an enormous amount of physical pain to have the nipple rings reinserted" because of scar tissue," Allred said.

Hamlin said her piercings have never set off an airport metal detector. She added that she will never fly out of Lubbock again.

"The conduct of TSA was cruel and unnecessary," Allred said. "The last time that I checked a nipple was not a dangerous weapon."

Now MY opinion...she's full of shit!!! First off, she must not change her piercings out or something b/c I can't imagine having scar tissue built up to the point that it was THAT painful for her to remove and reinsert the ring. Second, if she needed pliers it's b/c she's a tard and doesn't know the proper way to remove a captive bead ring. It's not that hard, really. Third, anybody seen a picture of this lady??? If it was requested that I look at her bare breasts I think I'd turn her down, too. WOOF!!! And lastly, I don't know what the hell kind of piercings she was wearing but mine didn't even make a BLIP on the detector when I went through...and that's the detectors at the Atlanta Airport, the Boston Airport, AND the ones entering the ferry to the Statue of Liberty!!! Never once did they set any alarm off.

Did you read it all, Natasha? The article stated she went through the larger detectors with no problem, but when she got hand screened by a handheld detector, the problems started.

Skin will heal around a piercing if it's in there unchanged for months or years.
