you should only use a pea size amount to brush your teeth. I use Plus White tooth paste for tea/tobacco/coffee stains. Works awesome. I get it at like Walgreens or CVS. Walmart used to sell it but i dont think they do anymore.

and im not sure its ADA approved haha but it works and yes it has fluoride in it.

and here in the states you can actually buy bottled water with fluoride in it. ive seen it in Gallon water jugs in the store

fluoride prevents cavities? says who? because ive got a few cavities and ive used fluoride toothpaste up until today.

What does fluoride do?

Fluoride protects teeth from decay and cavities in two ways. When bacteria in the mouth combine with sugars, acid is produced that can erode tooth enamel and damage teeth. Fluoride can protect teeth from demineralization that is caused by the acid. If teeth have already been damaged by acid, fluoride accumulates in the demineralized areas and begins strengthening the enamel - a process called remineralization. Fluoride is very useful for preventing cavities and strengthening teeth, but its effectiveness is thwarted if a cavity has already formed.

Another interesting fact:

Fluoride is found naturally in water, foods, soil, and several minerals such as fluorite and fluorapatite.

There are most likely a couple of reasons for the cavities even if you brush after every meal.

One is drinking beverages such as pop, juices, and booze. As you are drinking it that stuff clings to your teeth and does its best to do damage.

Do you floss regularly? Stuff gets stuck between the teeth and if you just brush your teeth.... well....

Are you seeing a dentist every six months? They can usually catch things before it gets out of control.

My dentist recommends chewing a sugarfree type gum after eating if you can't brush your teeth. Try it.

I read somewhere that it's actually better to brush before you eat. I'm not sure why.

You'll most likely eat less! Can't imagine having a minty fresh taste in my mouth and wanting to bite into food of any sort.

I do know that my Crest Whitening Rinse protects from stains after use. I also have this Crest Pro Health Rinse that protects against plaque, etc.

So.... I suppose toothpastes could have that same benefit.

I rinse my mouth out pretty well after I brush so that the minty flavour is lessened and that if I eat, the taste can be gone in the first mouthful :p

Hey! Does anyone watch Dr. Oz? He's a hoot! Very interesting topics.

Anywho.... He said that to whiten teeth... Use a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda. Don't leave it on too long though. Only a minute. Then brush your teeth.

Here's the link: Click Here!

I just checked as I didn't have a clue. Mine is fluoride based apparently. Oh well, it hasn't done me or my teeth any harm and I have bigger things to worry about.
