Joe Hart is clearly one for the future but at this point, you would have put in a keeper who is completely inexperienced at International level? Something tells me he would have fucked up more that Green. Dont forget, it's pretty obvious that right now, goalkeeping is Englands weakest point, there really isn't some Gordon Banks to jump in and save us right now.

Right, and Capello should have probably given him that experience in friendlies leading up to the World Cup but he didn't so was a huge risk to play

to me a player proves himself to be international class by playing internationals...and where i agree with the playing in the top flight argument there are sometimes exceptions to the rule....and dont forget that if the premiership wasn't flooded with average foreign players alot of the championship players would be in the premiership

Well not really, while there are a few good Championship players it certainly isn't a majority.

You're being a perfect example of every typical England fan here.

1. After Venables failed to win Euro 96, every England fan demanded the kneejerk reaction of appointing the complete opposite of Venables; so they appointed the tactically astute - no nonsense Hoddle.
2. After Hoddle failed to win World Cup 98, and made comments of course, the fans demanded a similar kneejerk reaciton, so the hapless Keegan was appointed.
3. After Keegan admitted he couldn't do it, the fans demanded someone experienced in football outside of England. Along came Sven.
4. After Sven did exactly as well, in some cases better, than his predecessors, he was sacked and along came another kneejerk reaction, an English man called McClaren.
5. After failing to qualify for Euro 2006, McClaren got the sack, and the fans demanded again a complete opposite to the party with the wag days of Erikkson and McClaren. So in came Capello.
6. Now fans like youwant him to be replaced, in another kneejerk reaction, for this magical English manager that's won everything there is to win...

England will not find a manager better than Capello, his record speaks for itself. We're always saying that club managers need several years before they can be fairly judged, well - Capello has only been there a few years and he only works with the player 20-30 days out of the season.

My point is, the instant sacking of managers after disapointment hasn't improved the England team thus far. And so I am inclined to agree with Peter, maybe the problem doesn't lie in the world class manager we've got; maybe it lies in the second rate players we've got...
