No. They understood that the price of freedom is often your life, and they valued their freedom more then their potential lives as slaves to a dictator. It's not a sacrifice. If I lived in N. Korea, I'd start a rebel army (or try to) and put my life on the line, because I find less value in living under a communist dictator then I do in being dead.

Yeah, they must really love that freedom while the're lying in their pine boxes dead!

I can gain communication with West Ham supporters on other forums which are free and I dont have to do loads of work on so -1 point to you.

In my own personal experience, nothing is quite as satisfactory then the things you control.

I have over 200 supporters on my forum so people gain far more from me for it than what little pleasure I get from running it so -2 points to you.

If you aren't getting enough enjoyment out of it, then by all means, you should stop running it. I would.

To quote her "Objectivism preaches individualism, and common sense tells you you cannot have a cult of individuals."

I couldn't have said it better, so I didn't.
To be quite honest hun..you havnt said anything any better, because everything you have typed is someone else's warped veiws...and it might feel like you fighting a losing battle here at the moment...take heed, stop when there is resistance.

That's you experience, not mine, I'm not a control freak.

Why should I? Because some douche called Rand says so? I'm free to make my own choises thanks and I'd be rather silly to take advice from a snotty little kid on a forum who hasn't got anywhere near my level of intelligence or real life experience I gained in 33 years on this planet.:24:

Just because another person came up with it doesn't mean someone else cant agree or that it isn't true. And I know its true, it's not just an opinion. It's the TRUTH.

Of course there is sacrifice when it comes to this site. Like Evan has pointed out, there is enjoyment to be had from this place but that isn't the reason it's here. This was not a selfish endeavor on Veronica's part, it was a selfless act to give to the community. When this place went down a few months ago, the concern wasn't for those who run the place, it was for those who come here to enjoy it. Sure, we have made a lot of friends here and that does have a type of payoff in itself, but this place was not created to meet new people and make friends. This place was opened to everyone , a place to come and get off if you choose. It is more about the members than about us.

But if you feel that you can't continue to post here because of that, then you better sit down and look around you. There are so many things you/we have because of the generosity of others. Actually we should make a thread about the things we all enjoy today from the selfless acts of others. If you cut everything out of your life that is tied to someones generosity, then you would need to find a cave and live there alone. I truly don't think you realize that almost everything you use or own is tied to someone elses generosity in some way.

Calm down. First, it's not because Rand said so, it's because it's the logical thing to do. Second, you're free to make your own choices, I'm not forcing you to do anything, I was just saying. Third, I'm sorry if you feel that way about me. I didn't mean to get on your bad side.

What you believe is logic is as far away as black is from white, you should pay attention in school more rather than bury yourself in Rand books while teacher is talking.

Yet they sacrifice themselves for other's freedoms. I dare you to go to a vet and tell them to their face they didn't make a sacrifice.

When Veronica says that, I'll leave.

there's a difference between selflessness and generosity. Generosity is giving, but there is some sort of enjoyment or gain of some sort on behalf of the giver. Selflessness is giving with absolutely no gain whatsoever.
