Some people have a fear of crossing the street but sometimes you have to take that first step cuz the other side isn't coming to you.

"Flooding" runs the risk of making the phobia more severe or making the problem worse in other ways. You may not have a phobia, but for those who do, it's not as easy as "Just doing it", if that's what you're implying.

I have two actually. I'll list 'em if you promise not to laugh ok. Here goes...

- Mad dogs. Why? Because I was bitten very badly twice when I was but a wee boy. As terrified as I get I still deal with them when I have an encounter though.

- Mean women. Why? Meet my ex wife and that will answer your question. But.... I still like women a lot and have had a few encounters since took that airplane ride to escape. Hell, I even married another one 29.2 years ago and she's still a keeper.... today.

a needle is a needle you get a little poke and its over with Ill never get what the big deal is with that for some people lol

One of my legs was paralised by one in my hip when I was 6. I can still remember the pain to this day. I was out of school for a month or so until it recovered. It took that long.

Never really gotten over that feeling when I see a needle coming towards me.

Same with me and dogs but I still don't let the dog win. I take control.

Yeah I try to. I've had lots of injections over the years, but I'm certainly not going to do it for no good reason, it's a thoroughly unpleasant experience for me. The worst was being put on a drip last year for an hour. That was an absolute nightmare.

An IV is a very bad example of a regular needle because they are so large. I've had hundreds of needles in my life but those buggers always get my attention. They hurt like hell. To compare them to a flu shot needle though is over exaggeration. The flu shot needle is so small you hardly know you're getting pricked.

you try sitting in an emergency room at the age of 10 with the doctors trying to find your shunt valve and them pocking you 10 times and you sitting there with a needle sticking out of your head.

" During a typical year in the United States, 30,000 to 50,000 persons die as a result of influenza. Frequently cited numbers are 20,000 deaths each year, and 37,000 annual deaths. About 5-10% of hospitalizations for influenza lead to fatal outcome in adults. "

Even giving you the 50,000 number, that accounts for .016% of the population of the United States. My statement is correct, and if anything I understated it. I said that the vast majority of people aren't going to die from the flu. Less than .02% of people in the United States die from the flu. I'll take my chances and avoid getting a shot when I don't need to have one. Since the advent of the flu shot, I've never had one, and I've gotten the flu twice I believe. I like my odds. If I do get the flu, well... that sucks, but I'd still rather get it than get a shot.

Not particularly applicable, but hey. If I don't have a need to cross the street, then why would I want to take the first step? I don't have to have a flu shot, and nobody has provided me with evidence that it will be of benefit to me, except that I might not get the flu.

Not getting a serious dose of the flu is a benefit. So far you've dodged the bullet from the sounds of it but rest assured you'll get it. We all do. Prior to getting the shot I got it real bad a few times. It was severe enough one time I thought death would be a blessing.

I have gotten the flu, one of the times was relatively serious. I spent days in bed feeling crappy, and then got a sinus infection for my troubles two weeks later. I still wouldn't have gotten the flu shot if I had known that.

To each his own I suppose. Since getting flu shots I've gotten hit a few times, just not smacked like before so I'll keep getting it.
