Are you asking if AIM will work with Ubuntu?


Edit: Pidgin is Ubuntu's IM client. If you install Ubuntu, Pidgin is already included in the download. You can use Pidgin to manage multiple IM accounts (AIM, MSN, Yahoo, etc). So you could just use Pidgin instead of having to download AIM.

You could dual boot XP and Ubuntu, but I don't think that would solve your virus problems.

If you choose to only run Ubuntu, you will have to format your HD which will result in you losing all your data.

Quick question. What anti-virus program do you have? Have you kept it up to date? Have you ran a scan of your computer lately? An anti-virus program would solve this problem without any loss of data.

AVG and i di run a scan and nothing happened i had 3 trojans and it didn't do anything but give me the results and it updates almost every time i get on my laptop and thats like every day

Are the pop ups happening only when you're surfing the internet? Or do they happen even if you do not have a web browser open?

they happen when i go to youtube and google and i am using firefox and i dont know but there were other sites that caused pop-ps and i know you are going to say go to settings and do the popup blocker and its already on there shouldn't be sites popping uo and they are ranom to and some are really suspisus like " we have detected a virus clickhere to get rid of it" but i'm not that dumb and just click the x ox at the top right and the pop-ups arent like a usual window they pop up crooked

your infection can be more serious than just pop ups.

That can just be one symptom.

You could have things imbedded that put your security at risk.
