BTW, if you had really bothered to read the article it doesn't state that the US doesn't make the products identified just that China makes more. You do understand the difference don't you? You claim we would not have these items, yet the article says we are the second largest producer. In other words, you stuck your foot in your mouth and you don't realize it.

Yes I posted that link in response to your "big deal so China makes our trash cans" comment, your attempt to minimize the concern I was addressing. I picked China because they are huge exporters. Ok, so how many computers components are manufactured in the U.S.? Better yet, when was the last time you saw an electronic gadget of any kind which says "Made In The U.S."? When was the last time you saw "Made in the U.S." stamped on anything? And do you not think that Corporations would move all their domestic manufacturing overseas in an instance if they could manage it?

The point is the security issue of domestic manufacturing vs importing. I'm not saying we have no domestic manufacturing base, but the increasing amount that we import and the loss of technical expertise overseas is a security issue when it comes to future armed conflicts.

American Economic Alert article.

I started this thread because I see a threat to the Middle Class. And as an employee and U.S. citizen do you feel that large corporations have your best interests at heart?

You still miss the point Minor. It would be one think if we had no manufacturing. But we still have a lot. Plenty enough to gear up to handle anything.

No, what you said was we couldn't go to war with China because China makes everything we import. I, in a nice way, point out how ignorant that statement was and is. Now going back to the article YOU posted, it would appear that we make a great deal of the electronic components and not just for computers, but other electronics as well.

And as an employee and U.S. citizen do you feel that large corporations have your best interests at heart?

How do you know I'm either?

Corporations shouldn't have my best interests at heart, they are not created to satisfy my wants and needs. That's where you have gone off the deep end if you think they have any responsibility to you. This, of course, depends on the purpose of the corporation. By way of example, the Red Cross....corporation....has my best interests at heart.......GMAC...corporation.......doesn't know I exist.

You heard it from Strauss, corporations don't owe anything to their employees, like any gratitude or loyalty for years of hard work that makes said corporation successful. Despite this cynical attitude, there are many times (or at least there used to be) when companies do care about their employees and well being and have proven it. Unfortunately the trend is that many large corporations increasingly only care about their profits and their employees are expendable. And when a capitalistic system slides in this direction you as an employee better prey to God, there is a government looking after your best interests.

what do you call paychecks, retirement and health benefits while working??

Good companies will treat their employees well to keep them. Lousy companies will have employees leave. It is called freedom. By the way there is no loyalty from employees either. I had one of my best leave because he had a better offer. I did not fault him and wring my hands. If I was in his position I would have done the same.

sounds like socialism to me. no thanks

Whatever I want to be.

Now lets revisit the ACTUAL question you asked:
And as an employee and U.S. citizen do you feel that large corporations have your best interests at heart?

You didn't ask about my employment you asked a general question about corporations in general. You are so disingenuous. Do you lack the intelligence to properly phrase a question? Or are you attempting to play "gotcha"?

So Minor do you feel employees can quit their jobs at any time? What loyalty does the employee owe to the corporation? And why is management not allowed in the union? When it comes to loyalty who comes first the owners of the corporation or the employees?
