Someone a lot cleverer than me said, "I prefer radio to television, the pictures are better". The same can be said for books.
Books give you all you need to know to paint your own pictures. It's great when movies are true to their book counterparts but they can't compare to what the imagination can conjure up

Precisely.

most books are better than the movie

:homo:

take the biggest movies of all time.....the lord of the rings trilogy.......as brilliant as they were they weren't a patch on the books

:homo:

yeah I agree the books usually are so much better than a movie, some movies are good but cant compair to the actual book

:homo:

Personally, I find the best thing about the films is they inspire people to read the book when a lot of the time they wouldn't have bothered.

The movie "Gone with the Wind" was, IMO, much better than the book. Mitchell was way too wordy for my taste and her style was dry. The movie really brought the characters to life.

with me it usually is which ever I did first. If I read the book first the movie disappoints. If I see the movie first the book disappoints.

Never read the book/script but I am pretty sure I enjoyed the movie Showgirls much better then I would in any written format. Despite it's well constructed and thought out plot

I don't typically lke the movie near as much as the book. Movies take a lot of imagination out of the story, and they are typically only a third of the original content.

Just me....I know I'm strange

I tried reading some Robert Ludlum once. Based on the chapter I made it through, the Bourne movies must be better than the books.

well I guess since the only books I've read and saw the movies for were The Other Boleyn Girl and the Harry Potter series I'm not exactly an authority ;)

Fight Club is another movie that could be better than the book. I'm not saying I think so, but I see a lot of people say it. There are more movies that are better but I wouldn't deny that books are usually better, or at least more in depth. It depends on whether you like to read or not, doesn't it?
