Just watched last night's one. Honestly Peter I get what you're saying in that the gypsies don't make themselves look great, but are you listening to the commentary?! It's so sympathetic towards them, lots of stuff about 'the gypsies are fighting to keep their traditions alive' and 'persecution against gypsies is alive and well' with no real mention of the fact that it's because they're notorious for being rowdy and troublesome.

When that girl's family got kicked out a hotel for being too noisy it was all 'bridget's family have been asked to leave for being too noisy, ON THE NIGHT BEFORE HER WEDDING'. Like, never mind that you have to be pretty anti-social to get kicked out a hotel.

I was talking about this with my SO and we thought perhaps they had to agree to film them as sympathetically as possible before they could actually get access to them. I'd love to see a better expose though, that addresses why they've got such a bad reputation rather than skimming over it like it's a misunderstanding.

Exactly! Like when they were making out the police were heavy handed at the Appleby fair and the pubs discriminate against them. They never showed why which is because they are always fighting and beating up the locals!

a while back over here a whole town shut down all their pubs because there was going to be a gypsy wedding held there. They were giving out and saying it was discrimination etc and it was a bit but only because they are known to cause trouble where ever they go especially at events like that, if they didn't cause any trouble people wouldn't have a problem with them, it's only logical if you ask me.

PS once had one of his tools stolen at a jobsite . He followed his gut instinct and found it in a gypsies' van parked at the site w/it's side-door open. One should never steal another man's tools. Especially when they're engraved with the owners initials.

That was an interesting encounter to say the least.

As for these women, too bad they don't have the (what's the right word) gumption to turn that shit around to where the men drop their pants and these women pick the best of the lot? Slim pickins perhaps?

Yes we have some Roma gypsies in the states too.
I called the leader out and insulted and cussed out him, his family and his heritage.
I called that fuckwad everything but white and he still wouldn't come at me. I so wanted to beat him senseless with the very tool he tried stealing from me.

Moonie just watched in awe.;)
As did the other chickenshit tradesmen who had their shit stolen and did nothing but complain.

I did think they were being quite pathetic about the police presence and the pubs. Especially complaining that the pub had chicken wire in the windows to stop people passing drinks out and any drinks outside were put into a bin. To me anyway, that makes sense when there is a large gathering of people who may turn violent or give drinks to underage minors.

Pubs/restaurants/shops etc have to be overzealous where minors drinking is concerned becuase they are the ones that get fined for it.

grabbing is a load of bollox, what you saw on BFGW wasnt how it happens, grabbing is purely grabbing the arm and asking the sort to kiss them, the sort 90% of the time if they dont want to be grabbed will push them away or fight them off, if the sort likes them then they will kiss strait up and up front no messin about.

So why would they behave like that on camera and give themselves an even worse name and pretend it's how it happens?

its coz its all for the camera, even alot of the other stuff on that show was just for the camera, boys getting gobby saying about grabbing, its an alfa male thing they like to think they are in charge but reality is women are the back bone and pretty much have the upper hand.

Cheyanne who you saw getting grabbed didnt like the fact she was being filmed like that but was also not wanting to put up the usual front that ormally happens coz in turn the corey doing the grabbing would have put up more of a front showing off to the camera's, i seen many fella's walk away with hands on balls and tails between legs through grabbing. alot of the show was a fix, Cheyanne is my mates cousin and even she is slating the show massivly. Also the show didnt show all that happened when she got grabbed, it portreyed her as if she was being harrassed or assaulted like nature, it wasnt anything like that and the lad was playing up for the show too. Its all total bollox, the only real part of that show is the actual weddings and when they showed gypsies being evicted from dale farm etc.

It's fascinating that you can offer some enlightenment on the subject, thanks for actually coming forward to talk about it, especially considering that a lot of the feeling towards gypsies is negative.

It did seem like the show was obsessively pushing the idea that gypsy women are very much under the thumb of their male relations. It's interesting that that's not the case, I guess they wanted to show it that way for more shock value.
