Re: Best Starfleet Captain?

Picard... no question about it.

He was awesome huh? He was no bullshit. He was also a gentleman, and almost chivalrous.

I always felt like James T. Kirk was a little too chauvinistic, and if Starfleet were anything like the U.S. Military, his conduct was REALLY unbecoming on an officer.

Re: Best Starfleet Captain?

Kirk was a thug that was severely lacking in intelligence.. not to mention the fact that he had so much alien sex that he probably had more STDs than even Data could keep track of. Picard was a refined gentleman, enjoyed a cup of tea, was a skilled negotiator, and spoke Klingon.

You all keep forgetting that without Kirk there would have been no other Star Trek, hence no starfleet :tooth

Kirk having alien sex was denied.. Watch this as proof :24:

Re: Best Starfleet Captain?

All things aside, James T. Kirk cheated on the Kobyashi Maru test, (really, a commendation for original thought?) got bailed out by Spock and his intellect, destroyed a Starfleet ship, lost a son, saved Earth, (still got demoted for it) allowed renegade thinking (allowing tribbles) when he was shoved into a corner, chose to be violent and attack.....
Yeah, my vote is with Picard...voice of reason....plus a better class of ship for sure...

Kirk! If you mean who was the best character.

Piccard if you mean who was the best captain (with that Italian in the news being on the opposite end of the scale) . But Piccard was so perfect, he was dull.

Re: Best Starfleet Captain?

I wish we could vote for two, because I love Picard but I also really liked Janeway. I felt she was a great captain, and really funny sometimes, but still a woman underneath it all.

Even after all this time, I've still not finished DS9 or Voyager. Currently in Season 6 of both.

I love Picard but the later seasons of DS9 have got me liking Sisko a lot more. My vote went for him.

Jean Luc Picard of course! He was just brilliant.

I really want to learn Klingon. I think it would be a great life skill.

Never seen "The Cage" huh? Technically, the pilot to Star Trek starred Captain Christopher Pike, but after that was met with shit ratings they rebooted it with James T. Kirk, so even if Kirk had never been created, Starfleet would still exist. :p

Let's get off my Mom, and I'll get off yours. ;)

Picard was a superior leader and diplomat. Picard was a true ambassador for the Federation, and Kirk was a cowboy, and he also didn't have a good deal of integrity.

Jean Luc Picard of course! He was just brilliant.

I have a Klingon dictionary somewhere around here. It's a real bitch when it comes to pronunciation. :24:
