I feel the same way about my son. But the fact remains that NOBODY knows whether she was guilty or not other than herself and her daughter.

Right, just like no one but OJ and Nicole Simpson knows whether or not he actually killed her. It's just hard for me to believe that if she really didn't kill her daughter, or didn't have anything to do with it, she'd have given up every bit of information, answered all of the questions she was asked honestly the first time, etc, etc. I think what most people are upset about is that there is something so off about everything in that case. Very suspicious family.

Oh no! The NationalDistraction is over!:willy_nilly:

Whatever are the news channels gonna talk about? :willy_nilly:

Whatever is my local news gonna fill those pre-requisite 7-10 minutes with? :willy_nilly:

Budgets, deficits, military spending? wars? sold-out politicians?

Quick! Whom else can we make a national distraction out of?????

Pay no attention to this nation's problems! Fight over seating in a court room :thumbup

Damn right I'm outraged. Our judicial system sucks and this is a great miscarriage of justice.

Our judicial system is the most fair and balanced one in the world. The burden of proof lay with the prosecution, and they couldn't prove that she was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. People are innocent until proven guilty, and she wasn't proven guilty. Plain and simple. If you can explain to me that how, based on the shitty case that the prosecution presented, she should have been found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, then you might have a point. But you can't do it. Take away the media frenzy, Nancy Grace and her ilk giving their own opinions on the case, so-called "experts" giving their opinions, and focus solely on the facts... and I doubt anyone would find her guilty.

Something being "off" doesn't prove guilt. I'm sure people would say that we're "off" for eschewing real life interactions and posting on an internet forum. :p

The only thing she was actually proven guilty of is what she was convicted of... providing false testimony.

Don't worry, they can always find some new inside info on Michael Jackson. :thumbup

Thank God, someone with some common sense.

But like I said, all of this will be forgotten once something scandalous about a Kardashian happens (I figure they're good for 5-6 scandals a year). So rather than focus on the real problems, we'll move on to the next big distraction that means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things.

:24: That's a different kind of 'off'.

Our politicians and their 'voice' the main-stream media have made a high art-form out of it. For sure.

I feel like three or four guilty verdicts of obstruction of justice (or however they worded it) should warrant much higher a penalty than time served.

So wait. We're not supposed to have an interest in anything except for politics? We can't discuss anything if it's sensationalized in the media? Isn't pretty much EVERYTHING sensationalized in the media? Isn't this a form of politics? Are we not allowed to have an opinion without someone thinking we drank someone's Kool-Aid? Hypocrites are my biggest pet peeve.

They aren't hypocrites just because they don't care to see a case plastered all over TV, news and internet.

To some, it's interesting, to others it's unnecessary. I haven't religiously followed the case, but I still have an opinion about it, and I definitely have an opinion about Casey. I'm with Moony on thinking it's overkill that people were busting heads to get a ticket to sit inside the courtroom.

That's true. But it is in the media just like everything else is and it was sensationalized just like everything else is. They may not have been interested in this particular case, but I guarantee you something else sensationalized has interested them at some point.

Probably because it was less depressing than hearing about a dead 4 year old. A lot of people don't like to stew over these things.

Are you honestly that dense? Or is it just a part that you play?

Nobody is being hypocritical... we're saying that there are probably infinitely more important things going on in this country or around the world that actually have an effect on people's day to day lives. But things like that are covered up by the media in order to sensationalize shit like this, celebrity sex tapes, or anything else in order to drive ratings. Then there's people (like some here) that buy into it hook, line, and sinker... and focus on this meaningless drivel rather than things that actually matter.
