Those new atheists love to talk about how bad religion is for society. They love to bring up ancient history and blame wars on religion and yet they completely ignore the atrocities carried out by atheist regimes in the 20th century. To see the result of an atheist regime you only have to look at Russia, China or North Korea. North Korea is on of the most oppressive countries today and it is atheist run.

Technically religion is legal but only if approved by the atheist government. To worship anything but the atheist leader is seen as a threat and those who practice religion are often in danger of being thrown in prison or worse. Many defectors from North Korea have attested that any form of adherence to the Christian faith, even the mere possessing of a Bible, can be considered a reason for arrest and deportation to a DPRK prison camp. Even though it is a very controlled country it isn't hard to find images of starving children or people being abused by this atheist regime.

This isn't ancient history but it must be the atheist vision for the future society they have in mind where people aren't allowed to practice their religion or believe in a God other than their leader.

North Korea is a human tragedy no doubt. The satelite image of how dark it is at night shows how oppressed it is.

Yes, oppression seems to be a common thread among atheist regimes. They don't tolerate people who think differnt from them.

That's how the population is controlled so religion has to be removed. The government has to have the final say in everything.

You have nothing to say and it shows.
What is the point of this thread? That governments shouldn't legislate religion? I agree to that. The only way to protect religious freedom is to keep our government secular and restrict it from imposing/mandating/subsidizing a belief system.

....life in an atheist's paradise.

You still haven't responded to my post.
What is the point of this thread?
Are you claiming atheist dictators happen to create more death and suffering than religious dictators and this thread is an argument for the lessor atrocities of religious dictators?

You're better off having a conversation with yourself.

Actually, I am curious as well as to what the point of the thread is. Is it just to show the dangers of atheist regimes? An attempt to sway atheists? I'm honestly curious.

nothing curious here Mercury

just another attempt to rile up the masses by a troll

Atheism is no different than religion when taken to extremes. Just that there are more religious nuts over the ages than atheist nuts.

I am still not convinced atheism is catalyst for any of these regimes. Seems to me like these dictators are not atheists, but wannabe gods.

I think this thread illustrates the importance of religious freedom and freedom in general. I don't agree with many people about their beliefs but I think it is important to respect their right to do so. To say religion shouldn't be tolerated is wrong. Making fun of and being disrespectful of someone'e beliefs is wrong also.
