So we shouldn't commit suicide because there are other options, because the Church tells us not to, because our friends and family will regret it, and there's more to live in life?

You can't live [their] life for them.

No shit? You asked for a discussion, I'm sharing my thoughts.

And what proper symptoms? And what disease? Someone could have aids and be really suffering, same thing with cancer, but they could be still walking around...so the doctor asks them, do you want me to kill you? How in your mind does that work

Basically it is any terminal illness were the patient is assured to die within a few years time. Often it is when the patients are bed ridden, and pain meds can no longer stop the immense pain they are feeling. Then, through the proper procedure, the family, the patient and doctor discuss what the quality of life for the patient really is. Often, when the person is on life sustaining medicine, the families and the doctors decide to just stop that medicine, and the patient dies. The patient even has to sign a form, so they must be able to consent.

there is always a tomorrow and a tomorrow after that, that promises to get better with each day that passes even though it may not appear that way at the time. If I think back at all the things that I would have missed not only for me, but in influencing the people around me that make them part of who they are today, I think that is a pretty important reason to be here everyday.

That is what is so frustrating about life: there is always a tomorrow.

Ok Bac... Ill keep it in here as you requested.
But, yeah... this is a "discussion". But you cant help but wonder if its a cry out for help. You can pass it off as a discussion if you want. But thats not going to help anything. And maybe you dont want help... but there ARE people out there that love you. Sure, it can be shitty right now at the moment, and lots of people have thought about it at one time or another... but then tomorrow comes and its better then today. Noone should be so selfish... YES you SHOULD think about your family and the people that love you. People have to look at tomorrow and not the past or right now if things are that bad. Things do get better... trust me on that. And remember... if you DO need anything at all I am here... and so are so many other people out there... or on here. Remember that please.

No, you shouldn't commit suicide because there are SOOO many things you will miss out on because you give into a moment of weakness.

I was VERY close to committing suicide about 8 years ago... I was at the lowest point in my life with no light at the end of my tunnel. But that was then.... I am SOOO glad that I didn't go through with it, I am a different person now, my life isn't the same as it was. At the time, I didn't realize all that I would be doing now. Everything I would miss out on... It was a time in my life that I was weak... but everything changes... it doesn't stay the same and when you commit suicide, you miss all of that.... and for what? Because it's hard right now... that's never a good excuse when you get a chance to look back on it. It's never as bad as we think it was, once we lived through it.

But all you need to do is keep your chin up and something good will be bound to come towards you. I felt a little depressed when I first came to college, being an only child and all, but I adjusted and have so many good experiences I'm glad I chose to stick with it. I just thought about my family and how much they all mean to me and it was easy to keep going. Transitions in life can be rough, but it's easy once you realize there are people out there who care about you

I'm getting help. I have medication and doctors. You can't live your life for other people, especially in such a fundamental question as whether I should live or not.

Everyone has bad days...and sometimes you think that it can't get any worse...but things in the future can actually turn around for a person. It might not happen right away...but don't you think a person would want to be around when it does happen? I've had horrible days where I felt like I couldn't live anymore...and those days pass. I've also went out and got help too for those days...there's always help out there for people that are thinking about suicide.

what could be so bad that you would want to take your own life? I'm telling you that ALL of us reached that point sometime in our life..

You cant live your life for other people, your right. But you have to realize that this IS a rough time your going thru right now, and understand that YES, there is a tomorrow.. live for that. Are you talking to a professional or just getting meds? You need to talk to a professional tomorrow if not then now. Your feeling weak right now and you cant comprehend that it is such a huge mistake to end it. If it is this bad you need to check yourself in to a hospital. I know someone who was at that side, and got help and turned his life around. I dont know what to say right now except that I can say this over and over again... it is such a HUGE mistake... people love you. You have to have love in your heart right now for SOMEONE that you want to be with. Family, friends... me ;) haha

"Keep your chin up" "Things will be better in the future"

I've told myself that so many times in the past. Even if things get better, the very act of living seems distasteful. I just don't have the heart for it. I'll find other things to distract me during the day, but I can't escape my thoughts before and after I go to sleep. What would I live for anyway? I've lived for other people before, and all they've shown me is that they are unreliable.

We know we can't live your life for you, we just want you to realize that killing oneself is certainly not the answer to all life's problems. Struggles in life are what define us and make us who we are. Life may be hard at times but it's how we handle it that truly strengths our character and resolve to be better prepared for those situations later on in life. The easy path never yields the results we ultimately desire.

my ex husband has lived with depression for many years and I can tell you it wasnt easy to deal with, he went through alot of med changes and counselors before he finally got it right. I know there was nothing that I could say or do to make it any better when he was having an episode where he felt like the world was crashing around him. I cant tell you how many days I came home wondering and worrying if he was going to be sad or if he had done something, or was just going to be ok for the day. Just know that if you need to talk we are here to listen.

Then live for yourself, if nothing else. Live to fulfill your goals in life. If your life is meaningful to you, then what others say and do shouldn't affect that

Why take the more difficult path? To fulfill what goal? I look inside myself to ask what I want to do with my life, and all I can think of is death.

There has to be something you enjoy doing? Hobbies, occupations, something. Live to be the best you possibly can in those ways. That is how you can live for yourself. Take pride in yourself and your actions and find a purpose for your life. I do not know what you have been through, nor who you are as a person, so all I can offer is general ideas at this point. I just hope you will work your way through whatever it is you're going through.
