I was thinking today about the soul and the human body. I came to conclude that our soul (who we really are) is just using this meat suit in order to communicate with others. We must feed it and take care of it so our soul can continue living in it in the human world. Once our body reaches it's limit, we will decompose of it and our soul will still survive. Our human body is temporary and our essence, that we call soul, is eternal. Our mind is just a tool that helps us distinguish between right and wrong. We have desires (i.e- food, sexual activity, etc) which we must control and thus conqure.
What are your thoughts?

I believe in a soul, I have many beliefs on the soul and the transference of the soul after the body dies.

I just don't see how a soul could exist

we would have identified it by now, since a soul is a type of power/energy, and since energies exert force, that force is measurable, and no such measurement has ever been found.

I am an objectivist, which means that I (among other things) reject the body-soul dichotomy and believe that they are one. But I am also a Christian. Which means (among other things) that I believe in an afterlife. So I'VE come to the conclusion that , after our body on this planet dies, we are given a new one in the other-dimension called "Heaven".

We haven't found a way to measure consciousness; but it still exists. It could just be that we don't understand the nature of the soul and haven't found what to look for to measure it with.

We are a soul, we're just using a human body. We are immortal. Where do you reckon your emotions come from? Our human body contains a brain and a heart, surely you do not believe that your emotions come from your clock or from your brain?

I believe in a soul, but I still think that our emotions stem from a logical process, stemming from correct or incorrect premises.

So by this definition, dogs, cats, birds all have a soul. They show emotion as well.

I find it quite interesting that there is such a need for people to believe in something "bigger" The need for immortality, that there must be something beyond the grave.

For those that argue the point that you cannot disprove that people have a soul, then you must also agree that one cannot prove it either. And since you cannot show that there is a soul, then why do you believe it? We would not even be having this conversation if someone hadn't told you that you have a soul. This concept of a soul is learned and not natural. This is what happens when people look for answers that aren't there. To wonder if there is something bigger than you or wonder if there is reason for your existence, does not make your conclusions correct.

The whole religion, afterlife, soul and supernatural debate is nothing more than a continuation of your ancestors questioning of life itself. The only difference is how refined the discussion has become, but it's still flawed logic. Just because Neanderthal man had an epiphany does not mean you have a soul
