And y'all know how I don't like to think, so I'll ask for your opinions :D

It was his victory speech in NC he said something along the lines of wanting the government to set minimum gas mileage on vehicles.

Well, here's my question. Shouldn't the free market be able to do that without government intervention? Especially with the outrage over gas prices, if people quit buying cars that get <20MPG for example, the companies would quit making them. It's simple economics.

Now, I may be looking too far into this one comment, but doesn't it basically seem like he's saying we're too stupid to know what's good for us? The government is gonna tell us what cars to buy? I have a big problem with that. Mostly because it seems completely contrary to our free market system.

Opinions?

doesn't surprise me.

Its perfectly possible to get 80 mpg our of a 4 cylinder engine, actually. I think a guy invented a carburetor that would help a small car engine get close to 100MPG, but he "disappeared".

Electrolysis can make something called HHO or HOO gas (I forget which one) that can be added as a supplement to any form of fuel that can be used in a combustible engine to make every ounce of fuel more efficient, getting more MPG. So like, a car that gets 25 MPG with this set up could possibly get 35 or so, or maybe even more.

radio waves can ignite saltwater and keep it buring
it burns slow and with force it can produce an impact larger than gas but it burns slower than gas
with only carbon dioxide as its emission which is clean and can be re used by plants to create oxygen for the ozone

The government already put restrictions on things people buy. For example it's illegal to buy drugs in all places and sex in most. People under 21 cannot but alcolhol and those under 18 cannot buy cigarettes. There are all sorts of laws about buying guns as well.

Right. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but state-controlled manufacturing is a basic tenet of Communism. Which is anti-Capitalism, and like it or not this country is based on Capitalism.

It's not so much state controlled manufacturing, but rather government regulaton. Which has been going on longer than I can remember.

They tell toy manufactures what chemicals they can and can not use in making toys to make sure they are safe for children. No difference telling car makers to develop more fuel efficiant cars for countless logical reasons.
