I could never understand how technically a person getting health care paid for by an employer is not considered income as far as tax purposes.

maybe if it had been things would not have gotten out of control as individuals would have been more aware of how bad costs were rising over the years

I believe ours is taxable as far as the plan goes.. It is a benefit so it does get considered part of your income.. As far as the services you receive they get taxed from the insurance side of it.. So either way, the service gets taxed..

Repeal marijuana prohibition.......:D
It's getting harder and harder to argue social values anymore......:eek

Doesn't Obamacare correct that?......:tooth

I don't know of any benefits being taxed as income, but I agree that if people actually saw how much money (that could have been personal income) goes to insurance companies, it could only do good. Insurance companies have done more to destroy the middle class than anything, except possibly gov't-subsidized banks.

unless I am wrong I would call vacation pay a benefit and believe it is taxed

Only if you don't use it and receive cash in lieu of time. If a salaried employee takes the vacation time he doesn't receive any more money and doesn't get taxed. So, a benefit is only taxed if it comes in the form of cash, I think.

To vote for Obama is to vote for "satin"

no one else caught this huh....LOL

by the way i am not one to defend the catholic church or her bishops, but i never saw where it said they had to vote for anyone in particular, and Romney has a pretty moderate to left stance on abortions and contraceptives, so i cant imagine they would be 100 percent for him either....

There are many more seats up for election besides the presidency.

When I think of vacation from work I think of paid vacation. At the very least one pays the SS and Medicare tax on that.

How about holiday pay? That is a benefit and I am pretty sure all taxes are paid on that.

Right, I think we agree here. The tax is on the pay ... in the form of cash. I don't think a non-cash benefit is taxed.
