I'm asking this because of the many offensive things in it, far more offensive than many things which have been banned or have calls to be banned. Personally I say no, I believe in freedom of speech and think really offensive stuff gets shown up for what it is. I find the Bible very offennsive though.

Banning any book, TV Show, Movie, etc. Is usually bad. IMO, the only good reason to ban something is if it is intended for a certain target audience, but has a certain amount of content not suitable for such intended audience, that its impossible to edit out the inappropriate content, and still have it at the same level of understanding.

Banning things because they may generally dislike it is complete bullshit. There are no exceptions for this one. If they don't like it, then they shouldn't read/watch/listen to it. No ones forcing them into it. It's unfair to take it away from everyone. Doing so just shows how much of a selfish prick you are.

And trying to ban things that aren't suitable for kids, even though they're not supposed to be, just shows that the people that are trying to ban it, are completely disregarding the intended target audience of it. It's not gonna work, ever. If you don't want your kids watching it, then its your responsibility to not let them watch it.

has someone suggested recently the bible be banned? or did you jsut come up wih this topic to get opinions??? just curious because i haven't heard of anything like that and didn't know if they were even considering something like that

It's something I just thought of last night and I find is strange that people don't protest about it. In a society where people call for bans on smoking, Harry Potter and many other rediculous things, I find is rather strange that people don't seem to kick up a fuss about the Bible which is far more offensive!

I don't believe it should be banned. If we banned the bible because we didn't agree with what it said, how fair it is then to everyone's beliefs?

We can't go around the world banning works of literature just because it rubs us the wrong way, and we see flaws in them.

the only things i think should be banned are child porn and snuff .
everything else needs to looked at and questioned ,if you go down the censorship road you cant call out the bastards ..ie pete like when nick griffin was allowed to debate at the oxford union

The communist manifesto is the most offensive book in the history of the world. It clamors for public ownership of the mind, via taking it from the intelligence by force, and that offends people who can understand that. And those that understand why they are offended by it are going to be most offended. But should it be banned?

The Bible should not be banned. Nothing should be banned. Only porn & guns from young kids, and super-drugs from adults. There are probably a few other things, but I covered the basics.

What exactly do you find offensive in the Bible .. I'm really curious.

And why would they ban it .. if you don't wanna read it .. it's pretty simple a solution .. don't open one. It's not like people ride around blaring it from air horns through the streets lol.
