It's not really like lying. Your not lying to your children if they Believe in Santa. If they ask is Santa is real and you say yes that's more lying. If the child wants to believe in Santa and you don't let them because you think your lying to them that's worse. Why don't just let them believe in what they want to.

People are going to buy presents for their kids with or without Santa, Ed. You should know that. Santa isn't a symptom or cause of the rampant consumerism that you seem to take such issue with. It's a harmless thing for kids to believe in as part of the "magic" of the holiday season. When they get older, they realize that Santa isn't real, and life goes on.

But they only believe because they're told to do so. So it is exactly like lying. The TV tells kids Santa is going to bring them presents, and the parents agree. Why would the kid not believe what their parents tell them?

The kids are being victimised by consumer concerns! :willy_nilly: :willy_nilly:

Like I said before, I couldn't say whether it does any harm or not, I very much doubt it. But I just don't see the need for it any more, other than to keep those cash registers ticking over...
SO you doubt it harms them. Your complaining about commercialism I think rather than the telling your child about Santa not being real. It seems to me that your beef is with societies selling powers due to having your child believe in Santa. People are going to buy for Christmas whether children are told about Santa or not. Hell we as adults don't believe in Santa yet we buy Christmas presents for each other. You can't stop that ed. It is what it is Santa or no Santa.

Aye well there is one universal truth, if that's what you mean. And it's called "mathematics".

What comes before One
And after Cipher?
Linear and non-linear sciences
Are bound to differ!
In one 2 plus 2's four
In the other are answers score!

I wasn't told santa was real and it was no big deal. If I have children, I don't see myself lying to them. But as for saying all parents should or should not inform their kids he's not real is too black and white for me. To each their own.

Santa is Real
Like the face you see
when you look in the mirror
Santa is Real
An Image of your self.
Be nice, be bold
to tell your kids
Santa is loving
Santa is Caring
He brings gifts
He brings happiness
and joy
Once every year
Make and see
how your wish is fulfilled
Santa is YOU
Looking in the mirror
a Real Image of yerself
A reality, a truth
If you disappointed children
The mirror may shatter
And bring you down

Welcome Santa
Welcome YOu!

Call what you want, never needed to resort to fantasy in the bedroom, things have never got that stale for me.

I suppose fantasy is ok in the bathroom while your pullin' your own meat though eh Eddy. Seems to me you said you liked doing that so without fantasy how the fuck do you get it up all by your lonesome?

He finds himself very attractive. All he needs is a mirror. ;)

Wow Ed.. Are you that brainwashed..

Will E Coyote and Bugs Bunny used to jump off cliffs and explode bombs and people like you used to say, it was bad because Children would imitate them. :eek

I guess with my son watching Sponge Bob will cause him to grow up to live in a Pineapple under the sea.. :24::24: Sorry could not resist.. :willy_nilly:

Kids are a lot smarter then you think and parents should be their guides and teachers in life but kids will also learn at school, daycare, on the streets and in the fields playing with others their age and you cannot stop that.. Why do you think Muslim, Sikh and Jewish kids in the Western Societies want to know about Santa ?

I know I cannot stop my kid from hearing from others there "Is no Santa Claus" and he may have already heard it many times. But like I said, we already had the talk about Santa being more of a spirit of Christmas. He still wanted to believe in Santa, like all his friends at school and daycare this year, so I did not ruin the day for him.. It's not my place to stop his imagination..

I had an imagination when I was a kid. I wanted to rollerblade (along with all my essentials for living) to Lara Croft's mansion :24: What a weirdo lol.

Is telling kids there is a god a lie?

It is to me since I do not believe.

Oh and for the record I have not read but a couple posts here :D

Do you have proof of that..

Every time I call my Ex she says "OH GOD not you again".. :D

Therefore I must be God.. :24:
