Personally, I really liked my parents "lying" to me about Father Christmas. I have fond memories of it and my mum and dad still write "Love from Father Christmas" on my Christmas presents even though I've known for about 15 years that he doesn't exist.

Yeah.. i found out on my own. i didn't feel anything really. if anything i kept it going in my younger years because of my parents it seems as if they needed it more then i did anyhow. besides once i knew about that there was not santa and such. i could then tell them to stop getting my useless crap and spend there money on something good like the bills. as i always say, A roof over your head is more important. but now since my dad is gone and my mom is a single mother trying to rase me and my sister. if she wants "A Christmas" then i say why the hell not. whatever brings some happiness to her live is fine with me. speaking of witch... i hate when people say your not going to" HAVE A CHRISTMAS" when there is not gifts under the tree..... i hate that so so sooo much. anyways i am done writing a book. Thanks for reading.

And this is the whole point really. The only reason people needs fantasies like santa claus is to simply make up for not knowing enough about what's in reality around us. We look and see boring, mundane crap, but when you really learn about the nature of things, it's actually bloody remarkable. Much more remarkable than santa.

I saw horse pucky with a side of cow turds.

One of the reasons.... because there isn't just an 'only' here.... that people need fantasy is that they are very much aware of the 'reality' of the world around them. If a parent wants to let a child be a child and let the child believe in fantasy for just a little while..... then what the heck is the problem with that?

Innocence is but a blink in the eye of time. There will be plenty of chances for a parent to ready their child for the real things in this life. And plenty of opportunities to actually discuss it. You can't keep the world locked outside your doors forever.

The thing is, kids don't need fantasy, no one does except people that fear the natural world and don't understand it.

The parent isn't letting the child be a child by making them believe in Santa. Santa wasn't invented by children. It was invented for children. By people that didn't understand much of the world around us. And, by all accounts, life was generally pretty shitty back then, especially in the cold dark winter. You can see why it had it's purpose.

Nowadays it's just used to drive consumerism, get the kids wanting. It serves no other purpose.

Who knows whether or not it creates any problems? I certainly don't. But I do know that kids can be kids, just as innocent and excited without lying to them. Reality doesn't rob children of their innocence.

I fail to understand why some people want to snatch away small joys from children? There are festivals everywhere having their own Santa's...Children love to fantasize until they have grown up to understand the realities of life. Moreover, what do parent earn for if they wouldn't like to respect and fulfill little joys of their children?? What is society for if it can't look up to the joys of its little folks??? If fantasizing was bad there wouldn't be great stories written by Grimm and others to make children happy and consequently 'imaginative'!

I call bullshit right there. You've never used fantasy in the bedroom? If not, you may want to back pedal and ask Santa for forgiveness, because dude, you're fucking missing out.

It's not about snatching away small joys, it's about giving children real joy. Santa just isn't necessary any more.

Call what you want, never needed to resort to fantasy in the bedroom, things have never got that stale for me.

And a santa fantasy in the bedroom is just wrong. On so many levels. Were you one of the little helpers?
