While you're at it, why don't you tell them about our thinning ozone layer and how one day we won't be able to breathe, I'm sure that'll make for a great bedtime story. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good conversation to have with our children, mostly the importance of recycling and reusing.....but I've never heard of a child going to bed with visions of composting dancing through his or her head....lol

Any kid attending school most likely knows about that stuff anyhow.

But I'm not talking about mundane things like composting, I'm talking more about the wonder of the universe, and all of it's magnificent glory. It used to mesmerise me as a child to hear... and when one of my teachers at school taught us about our solar system, the entire class was mesmerised.

I won't argue with you there ed, our solar system is pretty amazing to say the least, but what amazes you the most about it....? For me, I not only think about what IS out there, I think about what COULD be out there.........it's to do more with the imagination.

I asked you first.

Ok, well, I think that one of the biggest problems in the world today is people not actually understanding the natural world around them. Society, with traditions such as Santa, start the ball rolling by creating unnecessary fantasies about reality.

Not to mention the damaging and pointless consumerism it encourages in young impressionable minds.

Now you.

You're the one that said to let it go yet you keep beating it to death.

When did I say that? Guyzerr in shock putting words in someone's mouth horror? Never!

You guys missed my veggie patch post lol :p

That's a good point. A compost patch to someone that knows nothing about the natural world is so dull. But to actually look at it, understand what it is, where it's come from, and all of the amazing processes involved that make it exist, is just totally mind blowing.

Post # 171 Eddy. Go back and read where you told me to put it to rest. Putting something to rest means ... well.. putting it to rest doesn't it? Or in your case does it mean to take a little breather and then get right back at it again?

I hate veggies and think they are all a bunch of terrorists. Even kids know that but we lie to them and make up all sorts of stories so they'll eat 'em. If not that we disguise it in some other form of edible stuff. Parents go to great lengths to get kids to eat 'em including outright bullshit. Oh the horror of it all.

Yes Eddy there's no other subject that's as complex as rotting garbage to someone that's aware of their surroundings. If one is not aware they soon become aware due to the awful stench it produces. Kinda like a coffee lover waking up to the smell of a pot of coffee brewing. Ya just can't disguise it.

Where exactly in that post did I say about putting anything to rest? I never used the word once.

mmmm coffee :)

lol you missed the point entirely there.

The point is, to most people it is just rotting garbage, until you learn about what's going on there. Then it's anything but.

And this is the whole point really. The only reason people needs fantasies like santa claus is to simply make up for not knowing enough about what's in reality around us. We look and see boring, mundane crap, but when you really learn about the nature of things, it's actually bloody remarkable. Much more remarkable than santa.

Wow.... So many panties & boxers in a twist over Santa Claus....:24:

I told y'all already that I've seen him. He's real. :p It wasn't a UFO using a hologram of Santa as cover. It was him. Hello?
