Personally I dont believe in lying to children, especially pointless lies which the're going to find out the truth about anyway and lose trust in you. I'd rather kids know that a real person who loves them bought them their presents, not thanking some mythical beardy twat.
lose trust? i found out there was no Santa Claus when a friend video taped his mom leaving presents under the tree. I never lost trust in my mother. That's ridiculous. I wasn't even upset over it.

Perhaps somebody should write a new bedtime Christmas story entitled twas the night before 911 when all through new york instead of the traditional? We're not lying to our children by sharing with them the greatness of santaand his elves, we love them enough to carry on a tradition that brings smiles to their little faces....there'll be plenty of time for reality when they grow up.

And telling kids a fat bearded man comes down the chimney and gives them presents isn't?

Christmas has never meant that much to me, I can't remember when I found out father christmas wasn't real - so I certainly didn't care that much.

Personally, I wouldn't peddle the father christmas\santa thing. But, then, I never felt any of this "magic" that a number of you are so fond in reminiscing about. If you think a coca cola marketing campaign is magic, no wonder Harry Potter is selling like hot cakes :p

You completely missed my point. What is so wrong about reality where once a year your parents and people who love you buy you presents?
Dunno where the hell you got that crap from that I was in some way telling you you should tell kids about 9/11.:willy_nilly:

They know that you buy them some...but Santa makes it magical, haven't you ever experienced that kind of joy? My comparison is a bit out there, I agree, but that's my point, with all of the reality that we have to deal with in our lifetimes...what's wrong with a little magic? Some people just insist on sucking the good out of everything!

Has nothing to do with good or bad. Entirely to do with logic. To each their own.
