Reason i ask is, i was on the bus earlier and there was this fat guy behind me, he took up two seats. Now, my understanding of the laws of a bus ticket is that it entitles you to one seat on the bus, not two. Which is what this guy was taking up. The price of a ticket on the one i was on is £1.60, he should by rights have paid £3.20.

I say if you can't handle it then don't ride the bus.

The bus fare entitles one PERSON to ride. If it had to do with a seat then why must some people stand?

He was the size of three anorexics.

And people stand out of courtesy....or possibly because there's no seats.

And they were showing films on his back @ Aufred.

I was just proving your idealology wrong when it comes to the bus fare providing a seat which is wrong. There are too many people who travel through bus on a daily basis that there is no way to allow there to be a seat for each person on the bus when so many ride.

Did you also make a post a while ago about old people riding the bus too and how they get a discount and what not? If not I should go find out who.

Also what does it matter now that he is fat when you don't pay for the seat you pay for the ride? And maybe the guy was riding to a gym because he's tired of being over weight and wants to work on it?

MMMMMHMMMM Can you tell I don't like it when people talk about over weight people? :mad

Its public transportation.
hes paying a fare just like you
and is allowed to use the same kind of transportation you can.

whether he is fat or not has nothing to do with the fare he pays in my book. Now I dont know what 1.60 pounds are but here in the US most bus fares are what is considered pocket change so why complain over pocket change?

Ultimately if you feel against the fare he has to pay you could always get a car or send a nasty letter to the transit authority and let them know your feelings however i dont really see it getting any more support than it would here tbh.

This guy was way beyond overweight. And i have nothing against overweight people, i like them and i am in fact on the borderline (stupid height/weight chart). And i couldn't give a damn where he went, but it wasn't to the gym as there aren't any near us. And i probably started a similar thread, i start a lot of things.

Here's the point!!!!!! His weight has nothing to do with your complaint. You could have easily said what makes it ok for people to take up two seats. And left it. You have no right to comment on someone else's weight when you aren't at perfect weight yourself.

Although I'm nowhere near that fat, I am overweight and kind of insulted by this thread. But I do know what you mean. People can't help the way their fat is stored, I've seen people who look like there ass exploded and all their weight seemed to hit their bottom region. They remind me of Weebles. Anyways I say no. Get your mind right. Don't like fat people walk.

Two seats taken up, two seats paid for

They're losing money because he is taking up a seat that a normal person could have sat in and paid for.

You fail to see the point. It's not losing them money. There's just an extra person standing. OH NO WOES ME! Don't make me stand...OMFG

You don't pay for a seat on the bus you pay for a ride from point A to point B.

It all depends on technicalities. Is it 1.60 a person or 1.60 a seat. If they charge by seats then yes he should to pay double. If by per person then no matter your size you are still one person. I don't see why the same that holds true in planes shouldn't work the same as anywhere else.

I don't live in a large city such as NY or Atlanta and we've just gotten public transportation within the last few years, so I'm not sure what the situations are like on a bus. However, if people are standing on a bus then I can't believe there hasn't been some multi-million dollar lawsuit due to people standing and some sort of traffic accident. Of course this would lead to not overloading the bus system and fat people being charged double for taking 2 seats.
