i'm not sure about that

most the time his guitars weren't even in tune, lol, usually some strings were half a tone out out, it's only basic blues rock really, but he paved the way for rock, and therefore metal, so he is quite revolutionary in that sense

ediy: The best Hendrix to listen to is almost always the studio stuff

see, Hendrix wasn't a particularly good guitar player either, revolutionary, hell yeah, but not technically acomplished

I'd say he was very technically accomplished - on top of being a fantastic songwriter, singer, keyboard player.
But the main reason he was good is because he also played with passion and emotion, that's far more impoirtant than technical prowess - that's why Santana, or David Gilmour are so good.

The rumour was that Hendrix was tone deaf btw, I heard stories about how he couldn't tune his own guitar, and that's why sometimes he'd sound out of tune. Not sure if I believe it.

Sambora is pretty much a hack guitarist. I would be surprised if his guitar is tuned open. Plus, his riffs are fairly simple. Slash is better, but like the green face guy said, way far down on the pantheon of guitar gods

Gilmour is a good guitarist. Hendricks was sloppy. He brought showmanship and the lead guitar mentality to rock, yes, and he did some original things, but he was not great

And Santana is a pretty crap guitarist. Same licks, same riffs, tuned to open G. Vom

What songs are in open g exactly?

I know of none.

I'm seeing him 19th June so I guess I'll know for sure. Not sure how he'll manage to play every song I've ever come across by him since they're all in standard, and I've never seen him use a slide.

Keith Richards has tuned his guitar to Open G for years, yet he plays all the early stuff (I think "Tattoo You was the first album he recorded in open G). It is tons easier, you don't have to worry about the chords. Just about every "Learn guitar in three easy lessons" course uses it.

Who Keith?

I know he used Open G, and even took the lowest string off sometimes, I guess to not make his rythm playing overpowering.

why did you make a thread/poll asking who's better if you are not going to like the answers given or posted? yes this is my opinion (and by the look of the poll) the opinion of others as well.
