I drank two energy drinks earlier, and I have two here at work in the fridge waiting for me when I need them.

Also, I'm a badass motherfucker... I just bashed my head into the wall for a good 45 minutes on a problem, and then made my own damn solution because I'm that awesome.

Getting my Exchange server up and running... nice and stressful, because I've never actually done this before. :24:

Well... nine hours later, and I got absolutely nowhere. Awesome. But, I got everything working the way that it was before, thank God. I guess I'll try this again next weekend.

You always seem to end up working crazy hours. Tried looking elsewhere for more normal work or does it just go with the territory?

It goes with the territory of being a Systems Administrator... so much stuff has to be done after hours that you end up working these crazy hours to get it done. This was a massive change for the network and organization, and it doesn't really surprise me that something went to hell. I'm just glad that it didn't really effect business communications or anything else, otherwise I'd be in deep shit.

I've looked for other work, but there really isn't much of anything in the area. The jobs that I've found want someone with 5-7 years of experience (I have over 10) but want to pay them entry level wages, and they can get away with it because of how shitty the local economy is. The unemployment rate in my county is just under 20%, which ranks it in the top 5 in the entire nation last I knew. The other counties that surround me are all only tenths or hundredths of percentage points behind, we just happen to be the highest.

Oh, and I'm going to fucking murder someone today... fucking idiots. I've had one person flip out on three or four occasions today because a printer wasn't working. Well let's see... the first time was because she didn't have the motherfucking thing turned on. The second time was because she was sending her job to the wrong printer, the third time was because she was sending it to the correct printer, but the wrong setup, and the fourth time was because she's a fucking idiot and God only knows what she did wrong because it worked perfectly for me doing it exactly how she said to.

Then she had the fucking audacity to send out an e-mail to my boss and her supervisor claiming that I wasn't doing my job and wasn't fixing anything and that all of that stuff I just mentioned still wasn't working.

I'm beyond pissed right now... if she was a guy, I probably would have punched her in the face for that shit.

oh, and after the e-mail she came in here and told me that I must have changed the configuration for the printer because it hasn't worked all day. Problem... I've been out of the office since 10am Monday morning. :24:

Fucking bitch.

Got back to the gym for the first time since last Tuesday... I kinda let myself go over the weekend and ate way too much food, which I'm paying for now. Did 65 minutes on the elliptical tonight, then came home and did weights for another 25 minutes. I ate pretty healthy today too... slim fast for breakfast, special k bar for lunch, some chips and salsa for a snack, a protein shake, and then some chicken, rice, and corn.

Yup, I can sympathise with the entry level pay when looking elsewhere. Similar story here too in that respect.

Do they pay you overtime?

Here's hoping pills, fitness, healthy eating that you mention all help your inner 'zen' or something :)

Nope, no overtime... I get some comp time, but that equates out to be about 50-75% of the time that I actually work.

Today has started off like hell already... I somehow didn't set my alarm last night, so I didn't wake up until 10am, thank God I only live about a mile from work. Then I got here and I'm having issues with two printers... the one from yesterday (different problem) and another one. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate printers? Then once I finally get those resolved, I have to work on setting up the replacement printer that arrived from Xerox yesterday... that they all apparently thought I should work overtime last night to get installed. Fuck that, I'm already probably working another 12-16 hours over the weekend, I don't need more time here.

It felt pretty good to get back to the gym last night, and then to lift when I got home. I need to see a personal trainer or something so I can get a good lifting program going so I can utilize the equipment that's at the gym. I just feel self-conscious doing it there, as there's all these muscle-bound guys and I don't want to be doing something that makes me look like an idiot that has no clue what they're doing. :24:

I keep hoping that getting healthier and getting in good shape will help me out, if just in feeling a bit better about my physical appearance.
