Pretty straight forward, why do some faithful people pray and pray for something good, and not have it come to fruition, while some do?

Think of the countless people who have prayed for a dying relative, and have them die. Where was god? What about people who have prayed to god for their relative to get better and they did get better? Did they do something different?

We can pray, but we can't control what God will do...if it's someones time, then that is in his plan, and there is nothing we can do to change that...praying for poeple is uplifting to them though, and sometimes if we truly pray and are following God's will for our lives then he will answer prayer..he respects those who respect him.

Well wouldn't god answering a prayer to keep someone alive going against "their time"?

It seems kind of wrong to me that god would ignore some prayers just because they don't respect him 100%. Seems like there's a special privledge system set up.

just because gods answer to a prayer isnt yes...doesnt mean he didnt answer...he just may have said no because he had a different plan in mind.

It goes back to another thread...things happen for a reason..trials we go through in our life...despite being fair or not...make us stronger. So...he does answer all prayers...just sometimes its not the answer we want

Why would he not want to save a dying child

i hate the idea everything happens for a reason. everything happening for a reason implies everything's predestined towards some sort of goal that no one knows or questions. it's weak thinking and just accepting things the way they are, even when you can still get something out of it or change the future with it.

things dont happen for a reason, reasons happen for things because we want to figure out what will happen next.

So are you saying i am weak thinking then? and before you even answer i am NOT. things happen for a reason...it is up to us to decide which reason...and which way we will turn our lives around it.

who knows but him...figure this what if he did save that dying child...and the child turned out to be a rapist...or turned out brutally murdered a few weeks later even...maybe he is saving them or us from worse...only he can know. Sad to say sometimes it wont go our way

so why not depend on yourself? or society? things will work out for you occasionally, but sad to say sometimes it wont go your way. the difference is you can actually try to save the dying child, and you know where you plan to go.

people don't know 'the reason' until after it's happened. 20/20 hindsight- except worse, because you dont actually know what happened, you're theorizing. theres no evidence, theres no testing, you have experiences but the memories become blurred and distorted to match the reason youve decided everything has happened for, it becomes logical to you, and should be obvious to everyone else. i dont call that reasoning.

so why wasnt the baby saved? because it was part of god's plan? god's magical ability to look into the future, see the baby was going to be a rapist, and decide he shouldnt live? how about other reason: the mother wasnt paying enough attention, the crib was poorly manufactured, the baby had some sort of disease...

i think 'it's all part of gods plan' takes away from our ability to look at the situation and learn from it. because as you say, god doesnt always do what our prayers want. and if god's going to help someone, god's going to help people who help themselves.

Why? Whats the point of discussion then?

Last I checked, you guys are the only ones here preaching a message.

Stop being so hostile to such nice people. This is a friendly community, that has accepted you. What's the point of coming in here to cause problems? Chill out for awhile, and let the respect for you build back up a bit.

You have a lot of insight to offer on a wide range of subjects. Why put so much energy into tearing down people's way of life?

How have I been hostile? Someone says what they believe, someone else responds. If someone just decides to revoke everything they have said thats pretty counterproductive to a discussion.

I didn't know that sharing ideas that might be contrary to people's beliefs was "tearing down" their way of life. If one little person on an internet forum can tear your personal beliefs away, they weren't strong in the first place. Although that is not my intent, I think some of you just get really scared when you recognize something that you can't explain in your faith, and accuse those who raise these questions as "being hostile", when I am really just trying to show you a certain idea or point of view.

I know you said you revoke your statements, I just want to respond in general.

I agree, everything happens for a reason. Someone lights a building on fire, it may burn to the ground. I just fail to see why so many people need to say things were "part of God's plan" to explain them. In my opinion, a simple "for every action there is a reaction" will do just fine.
