I'm watching Parent Trap and they crossed Abbey Lane and the lines were crooked. Never seen that. So I googled the Beatles picture (can you tell I'm American?) and they were straight? Could someone tell me why?

I might be wrong, but I think the zig zags are on the road so drivers know a Pedestrian Crossing is coming up because those markings are near every kind of crossing.
