or anyone else who can answer my question.

I'm watching Parent Trap and they crossed Abbey Lane and the lines were crooked. Never seen that. So I googled the Beatles picture (can you tell I'm American?) and they were straight? Could someone tell me why?

My guess would be either that they shot the album cover on a set, not in the real place...OR the lines have been redone over time and the guy that paints the lines had a seizure while doing so??? LOL

The Brits found out we paint our road lines straight, and didn't want to be associated with us :D

I think its to show that a pedestrian crossing is ahead.....no overtaking, and you must stop.

They lines are still broken just before the crossing.

Here our lines are broken (if in a safe to overtake area) up to about 10 metres before the crossing, then they are unbroken

I'm assuming overtake means pass. If it does, that's how ours are. Dashed in passing zone and solid in no passing zones. But why squiggles?

Because its a hard to see crossing in a built up area.....a straight unbroken line wouldnt catch the eye as much as a squiggly one would from a distance. So you have more time to slow down and stop.

seriously - is my internet THAT slow or are you people THAT fast.????

We're just that fast! lol

And Cam- we have some areas (at least where I am) where if there's a stop sign ahead, they have raised lines in the road and it bumps and bumps and bumps when you drive over it.

The squiggles mean that there's an octopus in a garden coming up.
