no wonder they don't at like sportsmen, but celebrities who happen to kick a ball around every now and again. No wonder they believe their own hype.

the other side of the coin is south america....players there dont earn much at all....so they want to be part of a great international team to get noticed by a high paying european club
and sitting comfortably in the middle are a team like the Germans. Real sportsmen playing great football!
even the germans now have players fromfinancially poorer countries....ghana,poland and turkey
It makes me question whether or not professional sports players really care about the game when they get paid so much money.
But then again, they represent, and are pressured to perform well by millions of fans. If I was in their shoes, I'd expect a hefty paycheck too.

oh...and rooneys sunning himself on a beach right now.......a holiday he booked 2 months before the world cup even started......playing for his country and booking a holiday for the latter stages confuses me
He had several dates booked before the WC, one if England got knocked out in the group stage, one for the second round and so on and so forth. Dates of depature that is, the beauty of that being he could cancel at a moment's notice.
If people dont like how much footballers get paid they can stop paying stupid money to attend a game or have sky sports ect. People keep moaning about it but they are the ones responsible for it.
No that's not necessarily true. The clubs COULD quite easily spread the money out more evenly amongst the staff of the clubs and grounds, for example. Football has one of the largest divisions in pay of any industry in Britain, with staff who maintain the grounds and especially those in the menial tasks such as cleaning and food and beverages make minimum wage. It's disgusting.

Yes but they don't really contribute to the success on the pitch by the players. The players who go out there and win games to get the team up the tables and possibly into Europe etc play more of a part into getting that success. Higher League position = more money at the end of the season, going far in the competitions = more prize money. Hence why the players get more money than the other staff. It's like that in any wlak of life, the high ranking office executive who made the company lots and lots of money gets more than the cleaner. You might not necessarily agree with it but it's a fact.

It's a fact, that's true, but it doesn't have to be that way. And I don't think it's morally right. The footballers would be nothing without the staff it takes to run their club. They'd be on the dole, kicking a ball around a park.
Alongside the wage discrepancy, you've also got the celebrity status of the players in the UK too... I'm sure that contributes to them being crap.

That's a stupid argument, because he couldn't possibly have been there. The reason he would be paid that much is because of his value because he is such a top player. The other reason is because he would be expected to deliver on the pitch, whether or not he would is neither here not there at this time, it's the fact that he would be expected to when he signed a contract.
That's through choice though, and it can be a distaction, but it still doesn't justify any statements of being overpaid. Hell I could be paid a wad of cash by Nike etc. Anyone could.

I don't think anyone that kicks a ball around for a living should get massive wages like that anyway.
