What American law has this Italian citizen (or whatever, not American) violated?

Crimes were commited by the clergy. Church leadership up to the highest levels were involved as accomplices and conspiracy to cover a multitude of crimes against innocent children. Is it that hard to comprehend?

You need an example? A priest molests a child. Instead of turning the monster over to the police, the church hustled them off to a new parish where they could repeat their crimes against others. It's absolutely heinous.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? These crimes (molestation and rape) were committed in America, aided and abetted by the Church. If the Pope was not aware (unlikely), Bishops certainly were. You position is the Church deserves a pass on this? Incredible.

I'm not saying put the Pope in jail. I'm saying the Church and it's leadership deserve their day in court based on damnationable charges of condoning and assisting the sexually violation of children. Is there anyone here of sound mind who does not think the Church committed a multitude of crimes?

The OP is and this is the first time you've written anything against it.

If there is proof of a coverup... and I'm talking about solid concrete evidence, then there might be a case. But even then, you could only arrest and try those that are directly culpable.

I believe the Pope admitted he covered it up before he became pope.

Still waiting for the Opening Poster to come back and explain...

All seems well and the topic is being explained from both sides.

Did you have a particular question pertaining to the duty of a president, the law of the land, protecting those he is charged to protect and uphold the laws for?

Could you explain to me how the President has the right to jail a foreign national for crimes he didn't commit, or if he did, he didn't commit on US soil. You can go after the clergy in the states, but you can't go after the Pope because of what priests and other members of the clergy have done.

It is not the first time I've come out against the Catholic church for this crime in these forums. From your general response, I guess these crimes are ok with you, never mind the victims. :smiley24:

I suppose abetting crimes and conspiracy to cover up crimes committed in the U.S. gets a pass if you are not a resident, even if their organization is embedded all over the country? For claiming to be pillars of logic and fairness both you and Accountable have dropped the ball on this one.

Your last is true. The Pope did not rape. He just helps the process by protecting the perpetrators.

I just thought that we should take the moral high ground and beat the British to the punch.

Obama. Please put the Pope in jail.

Obama. Please arrest my Pope. It speaks to Duty and law enforcement.
Religionists of all stripes should demand action against known criminals regardless of religious affiliations.
No one should be above the law.
Is it our duty as people of faith, belief, spirituality of some description to, demand law enforcement.

Is it our duty to demand that the law of the land be upheld?

Should President Obama be encouraged to bring my Pope to secular justice?

Regards
DL

...how
how do you expect obama to put the pope, leader of the catholic chruch in jail.
so many holes are poked in this.

for one the pope lives in i think the vatican in Italy, if not the vatican still in Italy.
the president of the UNITED STATES. can't physically put anyone in jail, if he could the pope would still have to face trial. if was aswell possible, people of the catholic faith would protest this like crazy, and theres more people in that faith then their are americans. the president would have to get approval from the UN, aslong with it would require US military entry into Italy, which the Italian leaders most likely wouldn't allow. the president of the UNITED STATES doesn't have international justice power unless a crime is commited against the UNITED STATES, which the pope has done none too.

bottom line, you're an idiot if you actually think Obama can get the pope locked in jail.

Well for one, a clear message to the injustice done to U S children would be a good start.

As to the impotence of the U S. If they can go to war for oil, they should be willing to go part way there for their own children.

To do nothing is to condone.

Oh well. I guess we will have to let the Brits show us how justice is done. They do not fear the Pope like the U S seems to.

it's not that america fears the pope. it's that nothing legally can be done about it by america.
america went to war for oil, because bush lied his way in, and convinved congress to declare war on iraq. and thats irrelevant to this conversation, because this isn't a war, nor war needy.
and no, england can't do anything about it either, because they aswell can't do anything about it legally. only ones who can take anything close to legal action on the pope would have to be the italian goverment, since the pope is located where, in italy....

and as for the kids in the US.
the pope didn't do anything to them physically, the american priests did.

you're an idiot, stop talking.

I agree with Wyndex. Calling names indicates a breakdown of the conversation which should be avoided for the sake of discussion. If you think someone is a bafoon, use your logic and knowledge to shoot them down.

Regarding the Pope, I'm not a legal scholar but if evidence supported the notion that the Pope vetted the handling of the pedophile priests in the U.S. and Europe, he would be guilty of the crimes of conspiracy and obstruction of justice. I think he could be tried absentee, or if he enters the applicable country, he could be arrested. What is idiotic about that?
