Lots of seniors fit that bill, widows and widowers who find loving companion often after years of lonliness

Haha okay I see your point but I'm just curious why anyone would marry someone of the same sex if they weren't actually gay?

Surely there can be love without sex

Yes but if you're not homosexual, that implies that you don't have any sort of romantic attraction to your own sex. I love my two best friends but I wouldn't think 'hey, I should marry them'.

I mean, since you can only marry one person at a time, why would you marry someone you didn't actually think of in a romantic sense?

Just because a man isn't having sex with his boyfriend or fiance doesn't make him straight. Surely, if they weren't homosexual, they wouldn't be getting married. A man and woman could get married and not have sex, that wouldn't NOT make them heterosexual.

Anyway, congrats to NY! Hopefully Florida is next! I have a lot of friends that I love that really deserve it :):clap

I know a lot of couples who are in love with each other are totally comitted to each other and get by quite fine sans sex, one case involves a parapalegic, now in each case the couples are male/female and happily legally married, so marriage need not involve sex

Yeah I don't think I'm saying this clearly enough, I'm not talking about couples who are in love but don't have sex for one reason or another.

Tim said that there's a difference between gay marriage and same sex marriage, implying that sometimes people who are not gay choose to marry someone of the same sex. Now if you have absolutely zero romantic attraction to someone of the same sex, why would you marry them? I'm sure you have male friends that you are very fond of, but would you marry them? Probably not! And that's what I'm asking, why would someone who was not gay choose to marry someone of the same sex.

I truly don't think this will happen much, I was confused when I saw it at first. Reminds me of that movie "Chuck and Larry" or whatever. Marry for health insurance benefits? Free crock pots at the shower? I don't see straight buddies flocking to marry....

California really needs to get on board, the financial gain from a move like this is huge.

San Francisco legalized it a couple of years ago, and then it got overturned due to Prop 8.

So much for separation of church and state.

It's all these nut case religious zealots who think that Marriage automatically means a man and a woman.

It doesn't make a fucking difference as long as it's two ADULTS. That should be the only stipulation.

Ya, there is definitely a lot of fire power behind the anti gay rights movement there, which is a shame given the number of gay people living there, and the needs of a state with so many budget problems. I swear, Crate and Barrel would be rocking :p

hehe

what the right wingers won't accept or love to remain ignorant on is that homosexuals are legitimately the way they are because something happened in their life to drive them to that lifestyle.

it isn't natural, it's artistic, and that's fine.

to deny gay marriage is to deny human rights.

How do you explain gay people who had a perfectly normal upbringing then?

Although it's nice that you're saying it's fine for them to get married, it's not accurate to say 'something happened' to every single gay person out there to make them gay.

I'd love to see the study where they interviewed every single gay person and concluded that they'd all experienced the same traumatic, gay-making event.

I have a friend who is gay, he was brought up in a house with a sister and 3 other brothers, all had the same upbringing and things happening in their life. None of them are gay though. Kind of debunks that theory.

Why limit it to two? So long as their adults I don't think it should matter.
