some people can handle more than one thing at a time and some cant
some people cant chew gum and walk at the same time
I can talk and listen at the same time most people cannot
I listen to music play on the computer watch television have conversation both ways and eat at the same time

when driving I just prioritize my vision and senses on the road and just fumble the text

Me neither, I only use my cell phone when I'm on a trip. I have a terrible sense of direction. But now I have a GPS. Just haven't gone anywhere new in a while anyway. I have a pay as u go cell and pay very little.

I see way too much distracted driving around here. I think the texting ban is a step in the right direction but just talking on the phone & driving seems a bit much for many around here.

We did not get cell phones until my daughter was left afterschool in a questionable neighborhood for several hours with no way to contact us. She was in about the 7th grade at the time. She is 26 now. We were one of the last of our friends to get cellphones.

During those few seconds that you take your eyes off the road to text, a lot can happen. I don't t text and drive because I know that while I'm looking at my phone, the driver in front of me might slam on his brakes.

I think it's not so much about what you are capable of, but rather, what happens when you're not looking at the road, when you don't have control.

It's not about what you can do, or allege to be able to do, but rather what the law says you can/can't do. Unfortunately for you if you got pulled over the defence "well I had a good eye on the road and good feeling for my phone so I was never going to have an accident" wouldn't hold up, because there is always the potential for an accident if you're not fully concentrating on the road. You might be looking at the road and just fumbling a text on your phone, but I can guarantee you you don't have a 100% focus on the road. Just being able to see it doesn't count.

They've had this law over here for years. In theory if you get caught I think it's a £50 fine automatically, but you still see people do it. It'll still happen.

I think it's a miracle we don't have more accidents. Driving is so monotonous that my mind is elsewhere to begin with. I'll leave some place and then arrive at my destination having no idea how I got there lol.

We have a law enforced in May 2012.
Yet I've seen folks texting and calling on their cells more than ever.
I guess they don't take the ordinance seriously.

When I do the texting I hold my phone up to where my view is and do it bouncing my eyes rapidly and on top of that I can focus on the view and phone at the same time
so don't judge yes there are a lot more people that are likely not able to do this
and people who cannot, well they cannot understand nor believe that other people can

but by far I do agree with the law because the amount of people that I see bad driving is crazy

its a law for the safety of others. period.
