I've never out right said i expect her to pay for things. They always offer. Or say we go to the movies, ill go good on the tickets and she offers to go for the snacks. It's never anything I outright expect a woman to do but i don't see a problem with it. Personally it saves me from kicking myself in the ass if the date goes south.

*lol* I remember, when I first met my husband: he invited me to a restaurant. I was really interested in him, so when the waitress asked whether we pay together or not, I rapidly said "We want to go Dutch!".
And due to that my husband (who was interested in me, too) thought that it was a sign like "game over". :D

Tbh, I've only let the guys pay when I didn't like them. :ninja

Reading this thread, I realize I've never been on a date lol. At least not in the guy sees girl and asks out way. I've already been in a relationship when we go on dates. And at that point, it's more the what's mine is yours concept. I imagine if I did go on a date date, I'd rather pay half than feel obligated to kiss him/her or call them, because I would if they paid.

I suppose the paying your own way eliminates any obligations from the equation. I never went on a date where I did not pay for everything or almost everything.

You are in Australia right?

I don't *know* for Australia, but dating doesn't really happen in NZ and I am guessing its the same for Oz. We fall into relationships and then date afterwards, very weird. In NZ I was taken on one date, it was just drinks and he paid. The first dinner date I went on here (was with my current bf :) ) and I was scared shitless before I went! haha

We dont seem to get asked on "dates" as such, especially by people we've only just met or hardly know.

I remember walking down the street in Sydney once about 10 years ago, when this car pulled to the kerb, and out jumped an American fellow. He'd "noticed" me in a shop earlier, and wanted to take me for a coffee:eek:willy_nilly:

That just does NOT happen here.(yes I went for the coffee)

I dont believe the man should be obligated to pay for everything because I'm not sexist. Besides, its not like years ago where women stayed at home and men were the bread winners. Seems unfair to put the whole bill onto one person when the other one has got just as much if not more money.
