I think its shameful that 9/11 was used to start a war in Iraq. Yes, Sadams regime was terrible but so are a lot of countries. I don't see the USA condemning Saudi Arabia ect or talking about starting a war on them. We got told here in the UK that we were going to war because Sadam had WMDs and could use them on us within 20 minutes. If the goverment really believed that to be the case then surely it was an extremely stupid thing to do to invade the country seeing that they would use them on us immediately!
Like I said, I recognise the terrible regimes going on but we can't police the world. The UN should do that and we should only invade a country if they are showing aggresion toward and endangering our own country.

At the time the war started, there were reports that the Iraqi government had been meeting with Al Qaeda leadership. I'll have to look to find a source, but I definitely heard that.

However, later it turned out the intelligence was wrong. But, if I'm right, the government was acting on intelligence they believed to be true. Like I said, I'll have to look it up.

The President was informed by his top advisors that Saddam had NOTHING to do with 9/11. Saddam had NOTHING to do with Al Queda, they were enemies.

This Administration went fishing for any links at all to Iraq and when they couldn't find any credible ones, they twisted the intell to make one. Bush wanted Saddam long before 9/11and he was able to go forward once we were attacked.
That is a crime in my book.

I still find it kind of ironic that Bush never went after his buddies, the Saudi's even though it was Saudi's that flew the planes. What ever happened to that story?

Interesting read. Kind of long, but you may learn something:

Andrew C. McCarthy on 9/11 Commission & Iraq & al Qaeda on National Review Online

This is just an excerpt:

"It is the little-discussed original indictment of bin Laden, obtained by the Justice Department in spring 1998 — several weeks before the embassy bombings and at a time when the government thought it would be prudent to have charges filed in the event an opportunity arose overseas to apprehend bin Laden. Paragraph 4 of that very short indictment reads:

Al Qaeda also forged alliances with the National Islamic Front in the Sudan and with the government of Iran and its associated terrorist group Hezballah for the purpose of working together against their perceived common enemies in the West, particularly the United States. In addition, al Qaeda reached an understanding with the government of Iraq that al Qaeda would not work against that government and that on particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al Qaeda would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq."

I don't expect it to change anyone's mind :) , but it's still a pretty interesting read. And gives a slightly different viewpoint than everything else I've heard.
