Michigan sees fewer gun deaths -- with more concealed weapon permits

Nothing would make me think that Joe publics carrying around guns would make things safer, it just dosen't make any sense, which is why I'm going to leave this particular thread now. I've repeated my reasons time and time again and argued them and people get so desperate to prove otherwise that they start actually trying to compare cigarettes to guns! I really don't think there's a lot else to say! If you want to walk around in the wild west, go right ahead, I'm just glad, personally, that I live somewhere where gun crime isn't anywhere near as bad.;)

I don't get it Peter. You say "it just doesn't make any sense", but this study proves that it can happen. You'll sit here and make fun of any arguments we come up with. Then, we find a study that PROVES that in at least 1 state it had no effect. And you ignore it. Why would anybody want to continue debating the subject with you if you're just going to dismiss anything we say out of hand? Why do you even come in the debate section if you're just gonna ignore whatever you disagree with?

National crime rates compared

Peter, you have to remember that a lot of the gun crime in the US is committed in states or territories that currently have gun bans.

That's comparing all kinds of crimes, not just gun crimes and really has no relevance to this thread. Here's how Great Britain and other countries compares to the USA in gun crimes.

NationMaster - Murders with firearms (most recent) by country

Thanks. I could not find any 'straight' statistics on it.

Looks like a cool website as well - thanks for the link.

But my point is that our crime is still lower than yours regardless of what the crime is.

Also. If students were allowed to carry firearms, then I'd bet my life on it that he would not have killed so many before he was shot by another student.

Once again, what does this have to do with gun laws which this thread is about?:dunno

You stated that you were glad to live in country with less gun crimes. Which is the reason I posted overall crime statistics so that I could say that while you are glad to live somewhere with less gun violence, I am I'm glad to live in a country with less crime period. That's all. ;)

Whatever floats your boat, I'm just glad though that although I am more likely to see more crime than you, I am much less likely to be shot dead as a result of it!;)
