I agree, and I think most members here would too. It's time to throw off such archaic religous restrictions in favour. Having multiple wives is not a problem, as long as a wife is also allowed multiple husbands.
So at least in a blanket "1 spouse" law the rules are equal.

Nothing is stopping me from having a harem where I have sex with each of them every-night. That is perfectly legal here in the states. Hell I can father 100 children with them if I wanted to and legally adopt them. I just can't get married to more than one woman at a time which I fully agree with.

You cannot see the problem with polygamy because of your culture and upbringing. You believe that women should be subordinate to men, that women should be in servitude to their husbands. And if that's the way you view women, then polygamy works.

I have a different view. I view women are equals and the problem with polygamy is that it is very likely to be an exploitative relationship where one person in the relationship (almost always the man) lords over the other members (almost always the women). It may sound very open and tolerant to think all members of a polygamous marriage would be 100% willing and not at all disadvantaged, but that’s pretty much ignoring that the history of polygamy is tied fairly directly into the subjugation of women.

Legalized polygamy would lead to the structures of family and society being radically realigned. And anyone who thinks that realignment wouldn’t favor men is forgetting basic biology. A man can father many children and so would have use for many wives. A woman can only have one child at a time and thus needs only one husband. So in a polygamous culture, it is the men who have the power.

Hell, I don't even know why I am trying to explain this to you. Maybe in another 500 years you will emerge from the dark ages and you can understand this point.

I love my hubby and I want to be married, I like having a partner for life, a friend I can plan a future with and hopefully spend my twilight years with. He has very liberal views, is intelligent, a keen sense of humor and is very very kind, I'm proud to be married to him. I am neither inferior nor superior to him although we both have strengths and weaknesses that benefit from our union. I see nothing wrong with a man or a woman paying for sex, as long as they pay the prositute not his or her pimp.

Do you have some type of problem with understanding the views of others? I believe that is called... Ah, yes. IGNORANCE. I had a child out of wedlock. Are you telling me that I'm a slut because I had a child with the man I love and want to be with? On top of that I've raised and maintained a family while working. You live in your own sick, twisted little fantasy world where the man has to work, the woman is in the kitchen with a baby on her hip and is to please the same man every night. For some women, that's ideal. For some men, that is ideal. But for a lot of people (and this is what it seems like just about everyone has tried to explain to you) THIS IS NOT OKAY. Many women prefer to work, get an education, date different men, etc etc. Western society or otherwise. I know not every woman in the middle-east wants to live the way they've been brought up. Ugh, you're just seemingly brain dead.
