Man planning a Disney vacation is tough!

We've got our resort... Now just planning for what to do and when to do it. So much to do.. So many things to see.. Trying to allow enough time for everything and figure when the best time to do what is tough! :surrender

Try not to plan as much as possible...

It's a vacation... be spontanious! :willy_nilly:

I didn't enjoy Disney... Universal Studios is so much better (even for the kids).

There are certain things at Disney that you can't be spontanious about. You have to reserve ahead if you want to participate. I like Universal and all but it pales in comparison to what Disney has to offer. We are diffinately going to Universal but that will only take up one day of our 15 day trip. Everything else is Disney.

What's Disney got?

The only park I really enjoyed there was Animal Kingdom.

Whatcha reserving?

I love vacations :)

The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios, are all amazing parks. Sure they may not have all the thrill rides of Universal and other places. It's just the atmosphere. Classic rides like The Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain.. Those rides are great. Disney is an experience in itself.

I've never been to Animal Kingdom. The last time I was at Disney was 1991, Splash Mountain was still being built, Disney Hollywood Studios (previously MGM) was brand new. My wife has NEVER been to Disney, but she loves all that stuff.

So far we have a Character breakfast at Chef Mickey's (Contemporary resort), we have a Character lunch at Crystal Palace in The Magic Kingdom, we have Cirque Dis Solai (sp?) tickets in Downtown Disney, We have the Animal Kingdom back stage tour booked, We have Disney's Keys to the Kingdom tour booked, We also have Dinner and Fantasmic booked at Hollywood Studios.

Wow... that's a lot of stuff booked.

I was at Disney a couple years ago. My lil sis... who was 6 at the time (I think) liked it... but decided after going for 3 years in a row that she was done with it. I've a ton of pictures from the visit... perhaps I'll post them.

I enjoy roller coasters... so I think that's why I enjoyed Universal more. The Incredible Hulk - best ride I've ever been on. Definitely check it out if you like roller coasters. They've also got a couple very cool shows.

In any case... sounds like a great time!!! :)

Yea we're very excited. We never had a honeymoon and nothing more then a weekend at the beach as far as a vacation goes.

Honestly I've never been on a coaster (I'm a pussy). But I promised my wife that I would do all the thrill rides since we aren't flying (I'm to scared of that too).

I'm very excited, it's been so long. I'm more excited though about being with her to experience it for her first time.

Yes we have tons of things planned and still more we hope to do.

I've heard that The Incredible Hulk coaster is amazing.

That sounds like so much fun. I have never been. I brought it up to my kids last summer and they were both like, nah....I don't want to. My son hates rides, my daughter thinks she's too old! She's 12!!! I told them they were no fun at all..lol

Anyway I feel your pain about planning. I have to plan every detail of everything or I am freaking out. Spontaneous I can be, but not when I'm going away from home. I need the safety net of knowing what's going on. I think I'm actually a little OCD about stuff like that :)

Wow kids turing down Disney World? I can't wait to go an I'm 27...

I can't wait to have kids just to take them! It's really an experience everyone should have at least once.

When you stay at Disney resorts the parks stay open later for you, you room key becomes your all purpose credit card, gifts you buy at gift shops are shipped to your resort for you, the food, the entertainment, the fire works. There is so much to take in. A romantic ride on a Pontoon boat with champagne and fireworks, Spa treatments, gourment food, Minigolf, Downtown Disney, Wide World of Sports, Parasailing, Jetsking... so much stuff.

I know! See they aren't any fun - I was trying to talk them in to it because I want to go too and I got nearly ten years on you!

My inlaws have never been either.

We're paying for ourselves to have a week alone, then we're paying for rooms so that my inlaws, and my parents can come down as well.

Do your kids like Disney movies? How can they not like Disney?!?! :willy_nilly:

So there is still a SHIT ton of stuff to do and plan and reserve without kids.

La Nouba was the first Cirque du Soleil show I went to. It was wonderful. I've been to Disney more times than I can count and I've never done half that stuff.

I read an article today about Disney is going to start testing a new system that would allow guests to use their Nintendo DS as pretty much a personal guide to the parks. For example you would get an on screen map of The Magic Kingdom on your DS, you could click on The Haunted Mansion and see how long the line wait is. You could also click on the various resturants and see menus. Disney is some creative fuckers.

Over the past few days Imagineering have apparently been testing out some interesting new technology to help guests during their days in the parks. Remember back in the summer of 2006 when Disney were trialling a Kim Possible "Kimmunicator" game using custom PDAs (see the update here - 15 August 2006)? Well it seems now that Disney are looking once again at giving guests an electronic assistant as they visit the parks. This time however, it seems that Disney are looking at allowing guests to use a Nintendo DS as the hardware for the system. Disney are not strangers to using DS systems within parks. Back in the summer of 2007 Disney had a program where guests could bring in their DS to access customised content from Pirates of the Caribbean in the Magic Kingdom. With this new system however, the DS would serve as your interactive guide map. For example, you can click on the individual lands in the park and see instantly all the wait times. Let's use Liberty Square as an example. When you click on Liberty Square it will bring the land into full view. You can click on the Haunted Mansion and instantly see that it's wait time is twenty minutes. Click on the Liberty Tree Tavern and you can get a summary of their menu. It doesn't take much imagination to realise this would be a wonderful system for guests. If all goes well, it is expected that a limited guest trial may be underway within the next few months. As always, this is speculation, and may be subject to change.
