go to a junior college first, get yourself your first two years under your belt. explore classes that pique your interest. talk to professors, students. immerse yourself in things you like! take the classes that transfer easily (go speak to someone if you want to transfer to another college.) speak to people who are in a field you like because if you find a job that you like doing then it wont be a job at all!! and best of luck to you!

I'm with PJ on this for sure. Take your time and don't rush into it.

Don't give up on your dream!!! You have a lot of options with film. You love history and you could tie the two together somehow. I'm just rambling I know, but don't settle and don't turn your back on your dream - you'll regret it for the many years to come. I have a feeling you would be very successful at at anything you do.

Edit: Best of luck!!! You could always take some ideas from our story thread ;)

I'm with PJ on this for sure. Take your time and don't rush into it. You could come out with a BA and still be completely confused about what you actually want to do with it. In my opinion, anything regarding IT or Engineering will be very profitable for you in the future.

Having said that...

I am going to try following my dream, worst case scenario I fail and end up back where I am now :dunno

I had to edit my OP...I meant to reply earlier and took me almost an hour to get back to it. Once I posted I saw that you already decided! :)

If you end up back at square one, move to Cincy and I'll hire ya!

Good luck with college. :)

The best part is you'll meet like minded individuals and hopefully someone with experience in the industry, because naturally you can't just turn up on some studios door and tell them you're making a film.

I've decided I want to major in Film Directing.

I'm glad that you were able to make a decision.

From personal experience, I've wanted to do a few different things since I went back to school in 2009, and after taking a class relating to those things, I realized I didn't really enjoy them as much as I thought I might. Just remember to keep your options open, and take lots of electives that sound fun and interesting! :D You never know what you might find!

Best of luck dk!

My advice is to just go for what you love. You'll be miserable if you major in something you're not interested in. Plus, most majors can lead to many different jobs, even though it may not initially appear so. Take history. People love to say it's limited, but there are lots of history majors in a variety of fields such as business, management, government, etc.
