I've been thinking more and more about going back to college lately, since I'm obviously not having any luck finding a job, and the Military apparently doesn't want me I guess now's the time to do that, but sadly I have no idea what I want to go for, anyone have any suggestions for a major?

Do you have any interest whatsoever in fixing cars? It's a huge business right now with a down economy, get ASE Certification and jobs line up pretty fast. Plus it doesn't take as long/cost as much as a 4 year university. Just a thought.

Engineering, health services, IT, and urban planning are good fields too.

go to a junior college first, get yourself your first two years under your belt. explore classes that pique your interest. talk to professors, students. immerse yourself in things you like! take the classes that transfer easily (go speak to someone if you want to transfer to another college.) speak to people who are in a field you like because if you find a job that you like doing then it wont be a job at all!! and best of luck to you!

I speak like a bitter college graduate from 2008-present, don't I? lol
Fuck whatcha like, it doesn't matter! It's all about what is marketable :(

I didn't heed this advice though, and did something I felt was best for me in the long run. Minimum wage with a BA living at home with parents by age 24 later...I still hope it's a good choice.

But I like the idea of starting slow. Diving into a four year deal is scary, and you're more likely to give up.

I graduated with an associates in 1997 and thought that would be enough, but it got me nowhere and after much mulling I decided to go back because my bachelor's will mean something to me because I chose the classes to take and I must say they were challenging (including failing statistics) and I am glad I chose what I did. sometimes a true direction and internship would have been nice, but I thought just try things you like and then narrow it down...it is never easy in the college atmosphere for sure but if you can pass on knowledge about things you can network yourself as well.

I have no interest in working on cars whatsoever, I am immensely interested in History, and I've always dreamed of making movies.

if you want to "major' in history I will forewarn you, reading and papers are the bulk of upper-class (junior and senior year)

Let's be independent film makers.
I can rap so Fuck school I'm too cool to go back

the thing about that is I know that most filmmakers just don't make it, do I try to pursue my dream and make movies or go for a more realistic career that's in high demand?

Truthfully, going into the film industry (in any capacity) yields better work opportunities than majoring in history. That tends to be restricted to teaching and trying to make it as a publisher. The film industry has a lot of different types of jobs within it.

My dream is to become a rapper and I'll be damned if I ever give up on it and I say the same thing about your dream

I hate Math SO much but I know I'll have to take a math course, I'm not worried about those because I know I'm taking those courses, I'm just concerned with deciding what I want to try to do for a career.
