Wow I just learned a new term..."MIL" That can't be easy...as having 2 women in the house (and of the house) often "clash!" so keep doing what youre doing - and try not to be too hard on hubby (haha). Poor guy! Btw, I own, in VA, live w/ family + 2 pooches & a new puppy!
LOL.. He can handle it trust me.

I am currently renting a small, one-bedroom apartment. I don't like it very much because I don't have enough space. I'm finally to the point where I'm financially stable enough to look into buying a place. I'd like to buy a condo. I have absolutely no interest in doing yardwork. :D

I have a mortgage - nice house in a culdesac on about a 5/8 acre lot. I am happy where I'm at, but look forward to day care being finished ($1600 - $2000 per month) - a second mortgage :yuk. Once the kids are out of day care and in school, I hope to buy a house that isn't in a cookie cutter neighborhood with a little more land. I hope to be able to design/build my own house someday. I've already finished the basement, added a deck and put up a new split rail fence. About the only thing left to do is remodel the bathrooms. The only bad thing about remodeling right now is that you can't get back what you put into a house due to the economic status.

I have a friend who built his own home by a lake. It's a beauty. Hope your dream comes true very soon

How old are your kids? Have you tried looking for licensed private baby sitters instead of maybe commercial business type day cares like Kinder Care? I know those can be very expensive depends on child's age eh :(

I live in a 3 bedroom house in an older neighborhood. My mom, brother, and now my nephew all live w/ me. I hate the house and the neighborhood is going downhill. I would like to move to Tybee Island or Savannah but have to be able to find a job down there first. I'm sick of struggling to pay the mortgage on a house I hate, LOL

It IS!!! And there's so much to do down there. I like walking along the riverfront and watching the street performers. I was *thisclose* to having a job on Tybee Island and they did away w/ the position. BOO!!!

If you've ever seen the movie The Last Song, you've seen Tybee Island...and the bus stop scenes from Forrest Gump were shot at one of the squares in Savannah.

I have just moved in with my boyfriend.

Beforehand I was renting a room in a 3 bedroom large apartment with a garden. It was lovely. Now, living with my boyfriend I am living in a large duplex, with a huge kitchen and balcony. I love the area, I can get a bus directly to university 2 minutes from the front door.

Me and the wife bought our house four years ago. Now it is getting small. It is a really neat weird house to live it (exposed beams lots of woodwork). We have been on the fence about moving for a year now or renovation. We love the location and our neighbors. It is 15 minutes from work for the both of us and nice and quite. With a lot of privacy. I am torn as to what I should do.

Have a house and land payment every month. We'll be here for the next 20 years at least God willing. Love it where I'm at, and we planned on what we wanted for now and the future, and our place fits the bill.

The question is, if you move, do you sell first or buy first? Have you had your house appraised and do you know what you'd qualify for on a loan?

The fist time I went to the doctor in a long time was when I thought I was showing signs of having a heart attack. Turns out it was stress knowing that I was going to have two house payments when we bought our current place 6 years ago and we still had the house payment where we were living in at the time. Luckily, we sold that house in less than 3 months, but today's housing market isn't like back then. If you decide to move, I'd look at selling your house first with the condition you have three months to get out, then you're house shopping QUICK. Beats the alternative of having two payments and the stress that can come with it. Thing is to line all of the paperwork up and what what you can and can't do BEFOREHAND.

Ultimately if the house is too small for the family, I'm guessing sooner or later you're going to move. My buddy up north seems to be in the same situation as you. He just did some work on the house, increased it's value substantially, and they'll be putting it up on the market next year, and after it sells, try to find another place for his growing family.

A lego home! That would be cool - sorry to hear it's a bit crappy.

It's falling apart (quite literally), is all. The rent/mortgage totals $1200 on a place I wouldn't buy for $450 a month...there are 3/4 houses in the area I work that are nicer than this. It's sad. My parents just never knew how to make adult decisions. I've learned a lot!

I have a mortgage on a 3 bedroom house that sits on an acre, atop a hill. My view is pure heaven... love, love, love it.

It's me, my boy and our Cocker Spaniel. :)

Our financial situation is slowly improving, so my hope is that we can save up a little and buy somewhere in a couple of years. His credit is terrible, but mine is good, so I figure we'll go for shared ownership. Some people hate it but we'll have very little choice.

Sell first buy after. I am already all qualified for my next loan. I have been looking at the market for the last two year. Like I said before I LOVE my house I just would not look forward to a major reno. We have done a ton of work since we moved in. New windows doors siding and a new bathroom and a brand new cedar deck. The lot is just fantastic great trees and very private. Would hate to give it up.

Ultimately if the house is too small yet you love it and the area so much, I'm guessing either you're going to have to deal with the space requirements as is or build an addition.

We own 2 houses.. One is mine, one is his. LOL His house, we have tried to sell for over 2 years. Right now someone is renting it and is SUPPOSE to buy it. Once his house sells, we will buy a bigger house and rent mine out.
