Lilith or Eve? Female equality or not?

Who was the first woman Lilith or Eve?

Jews recognize Lilith yet Christians never mention her and assume, thanks to Christianity blaming Eve for the fall, that women must be submissive to men.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvKztNw5Mbc

At present, most political and religious institutions do not give women equality.

We do give lip service to equality under the law but that seems to be the extent of what males will allow women. In the distant past, male strength was often necessary for the survival of the family. Today, thatcondition no longer exists.

Are women meant to be submissive to men forever or will men allow women to be equal to men at some point in time?

I was bought up in a religious home and never once heard of lilith lol, but that first vid is fascinating, food for thought... As for women been submissive, I dont believe we should be treated as less, I do though have old fashioned views and think the man should be the protector and the woman the nurturer, but there should be no abuse involved and I cant stand the muslim culture among others that take it and make it extreme. I dont have an educated opinion on this topic but as a female I would willingly submit to a man but in return would expect him to love and honour me or he could get fucked.

Another intriguing topic from you Greatest I am.

It seems as if though the way it works here in the U.S. is that there is to be equality ... with exceptions. For instance, the female is to be considered perfectly capable at everything that a male is capable of. Female are allowed to vote, to be in the military, to be a police officer, to be in politics, to own their own business and even live alone ... yet they are not to be treated poorly in the same ways that males can be. It is never okay to hit a woman. It is sometimes okay to hit a male. Personally, I have the same instinct that it is not okay to strike a female ... no matter what. Nor is it okay to belittle females in the same manner that males are belittled. So it seems that complete equality has not yet been achieved ... it may never. Is this a good thing or bad thing? I don't know.

As for religion ... there definitely seems to be an overall ideal that males and females are not to be completely equal yet are to be praised for their own separate qualities. Is this ideology negative or positive? I can't honestly give an opinion as with everything in this universe, it has it's pros and cons.

Another fascinating topic that should be interesting to follow :thumbup

Another anti-religious thread. This one sounds mostly anti-muslim. Here's an idea: why don't you write and anti-muslim book and try and sell it in the mid-east. That would keep you occupied for a while.

I don't think the OP has the cojones.

Such nonsense. Lilith isn't mentioned in Genesis.

Further proof of the fallacy of Lilith lies in the meaning of Eve’s name: “mother of all living” (Gen. 3:20). Besides Adam, no other human beings existed. The concept of Lilith comes from Gnostic legends. Gnostics misinterpreted many parts of the Bible. They based their false concepts on myth and legend, as is the case with Lilith.

Yes, that is why anti-religious people don't pick on Muslims much. Scared shitless of the jihad.

I didn't think I had read anything about Lilith in the bible. Sounds like a bunch a made up crap.

There is a bigger difference there than between an atheist and genocidal marxist because they are one in the same.

Are you saying that there is a huge difference between a radical muslim and Christian?

If so, I couldn't disagree more.

All the Abrahamic cults, including Christianity, abuse their women by not seeing fit to grant them and indeed demand that they take equality as part of fundamental justice.

Would a man who believes in fundamental justice want a wife who submits to him?
Not if he is a moral man. Such a man would demand his wife walk beside him and not behind him.
Such would be a poor example to his children and any woman who would submit to her husband should realize this.

It is not about you my dear; it is about passing on good morals to your children.
If you submit, you are part of the problem and not a part of the solution. You would not deserve respect from those who demand justice.

Thanks for the kudos.

It is not surprising that some men will be unsure as to whether equality for women is just or not. We have all been indoctrinated by governments and religions.

If you are undecided then I would suggest that you look at your daughters and sons and wonder just how you would
teach your sons just how much more superior to women they should be and what you would teach you daughters in just how inferior they should be. You may need the help of your wife in this.

As a victim of discrimination, she will be good to listen to.

This is more anti-chauvinism and transcends religions.

Thanks for not speaking to the issue though. I doubt you can justify what I think your position is and you know this and that is why you try to deflect away from Christianity.

So Christianity used Gnostic scriptures in Genesis. Hmm.
And here I thought that the 5 books of Moses were Jewish.

That aside, the issue is not who wrote what.

Care to speak to the issue or is the above your way of hiding your views?

Thanks for acknowledging that the bible is all made up.
If it begins that way then it ends that way.
If you have not known of Lilith then it is because you do not know where Christianity came from. Ignorance is bliss when you book hates and discriminates against all those you like to oppress.
