I love being lectured by a xenophobic, prejudiced, male chauvinist, religious zealot. This illustrates what can happen when you allow an extreme version of religion to take over your government. To be fair though, it's not the religion, it's the people practicing the religion. I sincerely believe it is possible to be a reasonable live-and-let-live Muslim. They just happen to be in short supply in the Middle East.
Summary: If you are not a male Muslim in Pakistan you can eat shit.

Reporting from Nankana Sahib, Pakistan — Muslim cleric Muhammad Salim isn't worried that a court or Pakistan's president might spare a Christian woman from this village who has been sentenced to death on blasphemy charges. After all, if Asia Bibi, a mother of two, escapes the hangman's noose, he's confident someone else will kill her. "Any Muslim, if given the chance, would kill such a person," Salim said calmly, seated cross-legged on a straw mat at a mosque here. "You would be rewarded in heaven for it."
Holding Political Office if not Muslim: Forget About itThis month in the southern city of Hyderabad, a Shiite Muslim doctor was arrested on blasphemy charges after police received a complaint that he had maligned the prophet Muhammad. His crime? He tossed out the business card of a pharmaceutical company representative whose first name, Muhammad, was printed on it. The doctor belongs to the smaller Shiite sect known as Ismailis.
Oppression of women: Highnon-Muslims still are barred from voting for Muslim candidates who run for general seats.
According to a police official, in a majority of rape cases, the victims are pressured to drop rape charges because of the threat of Hudood adultery charges being brought against them.
Corruption: HighLikewise, the testimony of women, Muslim or non-Muslim, is not admissible in cases involving Hadd punishments. Therefore, if a Muslim man rapes a Muslim woman in the presence of women or non-Muslim men, he cannot be convicted under the Hudood Ordinances.
Corruption is perceived as pervasive. Pakistan ranks 139th out of 180 countries in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index for 2009. The perception of corruption has worsened in the past year, with the police, land administration institutions, the judiciary, education, and local governments regarded as the most corrupt public-sector institutions.
