Point being, people in general will believe what they see. Problem is, in todays technical age, sometimes what you're seeing may not be the whole story, and sometimes you don't see the whole story on purpose by the person/persons doing the "showing" of the video.

Please also keep in mind that Walmart is not public property. Some people don't understand that retail stores don't have to sell to you if they don't want to. Retail stores do have the right to ban you from their property. That said, because these loud mouth punks were black, it would only be minutes before the Rev. Jesse or Al would be at the store.

I fully agree...there may have been an earlier warning etc that we do not have a video of.
IMO they were fucking with the cop earlier....then we got to see the tail end
"Out filming carts"...little odd

That's exactly what I was thinking.

As mentioned, the skills of being courteous, polite and respectful are long lost on some.

Then again, I remember when I sucker punched a guy/student on the school bus because he was cursing at the 70 year old bus driver making fun of him. Bus driver didn't seem hard press to report the incident, and what do you know, that student NEVER made fun of the bus driver ever again. Guess I should consider myself luck they didn't film crap back then because the only thing you'd see is the kid getting hit and not the same kid being a complete asshole to an old man.

The identity issue is a red herring.
Go back and check the video.
The cop advanced with a weapon drawn on two potential suspects that offered no physical resistance other than casual avoidance of being attacked by the cop......an assault with out provocation.
Refusing identity conformation doesn't justify a physical attack by an officer.
The audio also shows the officer had the intention of spinning the refusal for identity into a bogus assault charge.

The cop wasn't only a fucking moron, he's a dangerous fucking moron capable of setting off what obviously could have turned into an ugly community/authority confrontation.

Exactly. And this is why cops hate citizens with video cameras. It shows the ever increasingly ugly side of law enforcement. Cops have far too much authority today - and what is worse is the pussified citizenry who has allowed itself to be conditioned to accept the increasing LEO abuse.

...maybe the kids were looking for trouble, maybe not.
I think the real trouble is that cops have become empowered to use deadly force regardless of circumstance and are well prepared and eager to use it.

I agree with these points. It'd be interesting to see how cops might act differently if they had their guns and tasers taken away... Perhaps defuse situations with thought, rather than intimidation and bravado.

Did the cop over react? Yes. Did the dumb ass kids handle it wrong? yes.

Last night going out to dinner, we had an ambulance come up behind us with light flashing and horns blaring. Guess what? We pulled over, cleared the lane and let the ambulance pass. We were one of the few cars that did. Guess people think that they the right to use the road that they lost sight of common courtesy to take the time, pull over and let an emergency vehicle pass.

When I'm not on MY property and by chance a LEO asks or tells me to do something, I do it. Guess what? I've never had a problem. Guess it's because I'm middle age and white?

Go to youtube and look up "police officers being shot", take a look at some LEO's being killed, and perhaps it will give you another perspective.

And yes John, please repeat after me, "Joe said the cop handled it wrong".

That is for sure. One of the most chilling was the video of Officer Kyle Dinkheller's traffic stop in which the guy he pulled over became erratic and even charged the officer shouting, "Shoot me!" The officer continued to yell, "Get back!" while pointing his weapon at him. The man went back to his truck and opened the door while Dinkheller continued to yell at him to stop and get away from the truck. The guy pulls out a rifle (Officer Dinkheller still does not shoot) and pretty soon there is gun shots going back and forth. Officer Dinkheller ended up being killed by that guy.

Officer Dinkheller showed amazing restraint BUT by not acting more aggressively, he lost his life.

Now, of course this doesn't really apply to the video in this thread, but it does offer good insight into the stress and psychological effects that sort of fear would have on any Human ... even a Police Officer.

This is a good point as well. There are plenty of Police Officers out there who allow their badge and gun go to their heads.

Personally, I have witnessed both sides of the coin with Police. I have dealt with Police Officers who obviously have a "hard-on" for just being a bully and I have dealt with Police Officers who are actually professional individuals.

And Taser can kill.. No matter what they say.. Perfect example was at our airport where this man died..

This Polish man did not speak English and had been waiting to exist the last door right in front of him to meet family. No one told him he could JUST walk though.. After waiting he finally got upset.. This was the last bit that was caught on tape..

Since then there have been multiple Taser deaths here. A commission on the use of Tasers, even only one use, has decided that only a minimal amount of officers can carry these weapons..

I don't even think this was a "cop" in this video. He does not appear to be wearing the uniform of a police officer, and he is not armed with a firearm. I believe he is a private security guard.

If that is the case, does that change anyone's opinion here? Does a private security guard have the same authority in a situation like this? Should the general public respond to them exactly the same as if they were an official Law Enforcement Officer?

Discuss.

If this was a Security Guard and not a sworn Police Officer ...

Then I would still say he acted improperly just as if it were a sworn Police Officer.

The Taser is definitely over-used in certain situations ... and it has been an AWESOME tool in others. Just depends on the one holding the taser gun. Don't know if better training is needed (since there is those out their who do know when to use it responsibly) or better psych tests?

They kill em all the time around in my area with tazers.
They tase you...then keep tazing you over and over
Many die from this....the ones that dont die can suffer permanent injuries....not to mention the misery of being tased for minutes
If you get a taser pulled on you ...it can be very serious.
Many of these tasings are unwarranted IMO.
I either suggest full compliance and hope you dont get tased {this doesnt always work as they find a way for you to not have been compliant }
Or go into survival mode and hope you can take him out....This still sucks however as you will be doing time by kicking the officer..but at least you will be alive
Again this is just for my area...and I believe recreational tasing is not a problem in other areas..but there are always exceptions.
