I am fed up with the media constantly going on about the whole façade, whoopee he had a relationship with the ex of a team mate.....it happens all the time...not that I necessarily approve of what he did

It just gets on my nerves that the media is making a big story out of a molehill

What are your thoughts about this?

I can't believe he was stripped of the captaincy.

Why does it matter if he slept around? He was the best captain and defender in the England team while he was cheating on his wife... And he still is now while he isn't.

Because a team captain is supposed to be a roll model. :24::24:

I'm more disappointed that the constantly self-serving Terry put Capello in the position of having to sack him from the Captaincy. Had he had anything about him at all, he would have saved him the job and given up the Captaincy, something he professed to know he had to be "whiter than white" to have when he took the job in the first place at his media unveiling.

I think the profile of John Terry and his position within football pretty much made this an easy decision, but the media pressure was way too big, but it's always the same. Look at when Ross/brand got suspended by the BBC, that happened a week earlier and nothing happened before the Daily Fail picked up on it and both were suspended. Now this is the same with the pressure put on by the media. I mean if this was a Chester City player or a Hartlepoole United player the media wouldn't have batted an eyelid. It's because it's John Terry.

Now the decision to sack him as the captain is neither here nor there when you consider he will still play for England and he will still be in the dressing room talking to the players and he still will do media engagements because he is John Terry and he is a leader. England have leaders all over that pitch, Terry is a leader, Ferdinand is a leader, Rooney is a leader, Gerrard is a leader, Beckham is a leader, so whoever is captain becomes nearly irrelevant when you consider that the leaders will always be there regardless of who has the armband.

On the point of footballers being role models. Well it's a vicious circle because while Paul Scholes has a squeaky clean image because he chooses to stay in with his family and not be seen falling out of clubs at 3am with girls on his arm, he isn't exciting enough to be considered because his face doesn't sell newspapers. I mean here's an example.

Here's two imaginary newspaper headlines

SCHOLES HELPS KIDS TO IMPROVE THEIR READING

and

GERRARD ARRESTED AT 3AM

The second one is the more likely one to be on the front page of the Mirror/Star/Sun whatever. Because that sells newspapers and that is what this is really about, the media obsession with the private lives of famous people.

Chelsea wherever you may be
Don't leave your wife with John Terry
His Dad deals coke
And his Mum steals tea
He cried when he missed a penalty.

Chelsea wherever you may be
Don't leave your wife with John Terry
He cannot shoot
And he can't fucking pass
But he'll take your missus up the arse.

Let me tell you about the news of the world, the NOTW is the biggest shit stirring paper next to the Daily Fail. It never gets football rumours right (This is the paper than said, in 2004, that Wayne Rooney was 100% certain to go to Newcastle United, 48 hours later he was a Manchester United player)

John Terry is expert at helping himself, 120K a week isn't enough for him so he touts out his Wembley box and charges business men 10K a pop for a tour round Chelsea training ground (for charity) except the charity has never seen a penny of it.
John Terry is a great example of what is wrong with football today.
