You obviously arn't rude enough!;) You really have to act like you're deranged, something they will never forget, oh, and your final words which should be screamed down the road at them at the top of your voice should be "DONT EVER FUCKING CALL HERE AGAIN YOU MOTHERFUCKING CUNTS!!!"

Trust me, the'll give you a wide berth after that!;)

oh peter ,know i understand the book of revelation thing ,and i hope my answer on that thread made you realise that just because some of us have beliefs that we arent as fundamental as the JWs .i also consider the witnesses as a cult.

my hubby always invites them in ..that was until we were put on their black list...this happened because neil loves a good debate (and for an atheist knows his biible better than me..(a bit like a bald goaty bearded AEF really)so invites all around.it was i,who caused the problem to a point where the gentleman jw lost his rag with me rather badly..i just kept quoting buddhist scripture ,and saying thats the same thisg as youre saying.
what finally broke the camels back(straw wise) was when i loaned a copy of paramhansa yoganandas ..autobiography of a yogi to the lady jw and she read it and wanted to ask questions

:24::24::24: Once I was rather pissed and invited the mormons in and tried to give them coffee, they never came back! The best way to avoid JWs is to do what I did, join them, get kicked out and then by their rules the're not allowed to talk to you, let alone knock at your door!
But yeah, Debbie, I take your point and realise not all Christians are complete nutters, I'm still very wary of any religion though for obvious reasons. Personally I believe in a God but think he's best apreciated by his creation, I'm probably closest to a Pagans though I'd never join any organised religion again after this!;)

My ex's father always invited them in. He was, pentecostal Christian. He died in '05. He was a mentor to me. :(

the JW that used to live next door to my mum let his poor wife die before he'd allow a blood transfusion

Ok, I should give you all an inside tip if you want them to stop knocking at your door. Next time they knock, scream and swear at them, waving arms around threateningly is good too. If you manage to be abusive enough, they have a list called "Do not calls" which they will put you on and miss out your door every time they come round.;)

Back in Australia, we had them knocking on our door everyday for a week straight. Well on a Friday I got home early from school with a couple of friends. I spotted them walking away from my neighbour's door. SO just before they knocked on my door, I stripped down bare ass naked and *ding dong* I answered the door.

:eek

Yeah they were very upset, and left immediately. Never saw them again.:)

Ok, me telling you this is a huge, huge deal to me. It's something which has affected my life greatly and the hardest thing for me to tell anyone because of the fall out. I was brought up as a Jehovahs Witness, right into my mid 20s I was one.
I was always getting into trouble with them, I really dont think I was cut out for it but when you are brought up in this religion it's extremely hard to make a break. It was only a couple of years after being kicked out, they had enough of my drinking, that I finally managed to address issues and realise there were other ways and they arn't wrong.
Because of my beliefs then, I have encountered all sorts of religions, am knowledgeable about their beliefs and the Bible and realised what was wrong with them all. Working out what is wrong with JWs was the hardest but when you get to it, you realise how much you were brainwashed.
It's very hard to break from or be kicked out of. You are brought up to think you shouldn't hang around or be friends with anyone but JWs and when you get kicked out like I was, none of your JW friends will speak to you. As I was brought up with them, this meant I was left with no friends, I had to start from scratch. They even tried to stop my mum from talking to me but fair play to her, she moved to another JW church where they didn't stop her and she has been really supportive even though she dosent agree with me.
So there you have it, the hardest thing I've ever told anyone.
After posting here for a couple of months, I personally wondered if you had been brought up in a cult like Mormonism or JW due to some of the obvious anger that came out in your posting style on certain issues. I'm glad you felt you comfortable enough to come out and post this. It sheds light and confirms what I thought.

I have several friends that are ex-Mormons and ex-JW, that are now Christians. Their stories are very similar to yours if not worse. The majority of them have no contact with their parents or siblings anymore and not by their choice. It is so sad. I can see the pain in their hearts and how they miss their family so terribly much. It pains me because I can't reunite them with their blood family. I so wish I could. I just love on them and hope to ease some of their pain, knowing that my love is not enough.

I'm so sorry that you went through this Peter.

My Dad had a flag decal on the mailbox. He would tell JW's "Say the pledge of allegience, and I will listen as long as you want"

They would leave

They are persistant mofos!

They're persistent lil buggers in true.

Back to atheists and stuff. What I've noticed is that a whole bunch of them, when you get to find out what was up with them, is that most of them were brought up in strongly "religious" environments and for whatever reason whether it is they felt forced, or maybe didn't want to go to services because they wanted to do other fun things, or maybe (and this happens more times than less) some personal tragic event/s happened in their lives or someone they loved, caused them to rebel and turn away from religion and the like.

And what seems to be a common thread is that most of them read or have read the bible or bibles and quoran etc inside out searching whether for answers or perhaps whatever to back up their own beliefs or non-beliefs....and it digs them deep inside something awful to find any opportunity to debate.

Well, that's what I've noticed in most instances throughout the course of time.
