If you have genuine belief in a [G]od, even if you are you're own [g]od, then you can not commit such horrible acts against your fellow man. It's impossible to cause harm to another being if you understand why it's wrong, and not just what will happen if you're caught. No religion that has ever walked the face of the earth can truly claim the Godhead because of the simple, yet unavoidable fact that have each taken life in [its] name.

The worlds militaries must be full of atheist LOL

The thing with the Bible (or any other "Holy Book") is it is open to MAN'S interpretation. Man throughout the ages has used their interpretation of their religion writings to kill others.

Hey what about last season on Dexter

Those were religious nuts doing the serial killing

:D :D :D

:D

Getting back to reality..................

In the early days of the LDS........they actually had execution squads that were authorized to assassinate believers that didn't go along with all of the LDS format.

Looks like we now get to vote for one this fall :D

If you want to brag 'they kill more than we do'.......go ahead :D

But it's not the way I'd try to make an argument on moral values.

Sure it is. Humans are prone to do bad things. Atheism opens the door for much worse things. People have done bad things even in the name of Christianity but that isn't what Christ taught. Atheism has no moral foundation so anything goes.

Extremely well said.

It is easy to place blame on Religion or Atheists for the terrible actions throughout history and while both have factors that contribute to such, the primary element that is the CAUSE of these atrocities is simple ... The Human.

It honestly makes me ill to see threads about placing blame on a group of people ... it reminds me of Nazi Germany and Hitler's regime trying to place "blame" on the Jew, Communist and the like.

Religion has immense beauties and extremely positive contributions to Human society but it is those who would use these qualities and "speak for God" who darken the world of religion.

Atheism has no moral foundation....
Atheism is not a denial of morality, it's a denial of the existence of God.
Atheism and secular humanism are often associated with moral principles.....so much so that
( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secular_humanismhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secular_humanism )
" the then Archbishop of Canterbury, William Temple, was reported as warning that the "Christian tradition... was in danger of being undermined by a Secular Humanism which hoped to retain Christian values without Christian faith."[2] During the 1960s and 1970s the term was embraced by some humanists who considered themselves anti-religious,[3] as well as those who, although not critical of religion in its various guises, preferred a non-religious approach. "

While there are certainly amoral examples of atheists, so are there moral examples.

And I'm still waiting for Clancy to list, by name, these Atheist regimes and details on how many people they killed.
