Absolutely, if she says no and you force yourself on her. It is rape.

yes it is

no means no

marriage does not an owner make

I completely agree and I'm not sure how it can viewed otherwise...

I can't top these quotes!

Most of the countries that condone marital rape also would condone a man's actions if he beat the holy hell out of his wife for getting his toast too dark!
The act of sex is designed to be an act of love. We guys who love our wives wouldn't force them to go out into the cold with us if we wanted a Blizzard from DQ if they didn't feel well, or just didn't want to. That's what love does.

There were and maybe still are states in the United states that dont consider it rape...while maybe legal,,still makes one a piece of shit.
Same holds true for those little nations that allow the mistreatment of women/of which they practice.
The difference is here in the states we consider the man a piece of shit..while in these little backwards nations..they see nothing wrong with it.
Here in the states the laws are designed to prevent abuse..but some old old laws have never been removed from the books.

I think Religion and culture does play a part.

Yep, and it wasn't just middle eastern culture. Places in Europe under John Calvin's influence even supported marriage after rape. This means a father could force his daughter to marry her rapist. That's barbaric.

any married man knows that it is possible to rape your wife.

this is completely true if the woman is not brainwashed away from her natural feelings by culture and religion.

So if a woman is brainwashed by her culture and/or religion, does that mean that it isn't rape?

i think it's rape regardless of what culture and religion say because i find neither one a very valuable or intelligent part of life. i think her natural feelings matter. but, if she's convinced she has to have sex because of religion/culture, then i guess it would not be rape. the only person that can claim it rape is the person it's being done to.

So it's only rape if she complains about it? What about in cultures where a woman saying such things isn't considered acceptable, or could lead to worse things happening to her? Is it still not rape?

her feelings dictate if it was rape or not...not necessarily if she talks about it.

ultimately she will have to decide whether she wants to hold sacred her culture/religion or what she really wants. who the hell knows.

So it isn't rape if she's been conditioned to accept it? Then kidnap victims that develop stockholme syndrome really weren't abducted? Your "logic" leaves much to be desired.

I'm not an expert on the subject but I believe there was a time when it was a husband's right to have sex with his wife and it was her duty to have sex with him! You have to frame this within the women as second class citizens box... or from a male religious basis, the duty to submit, satisfy the man, and oh yes, procreate. ;)

I too am no expert but the "time" you refer to is often called "half-time"
